Honestly, I think he chose a pretty good time to rest. IPL 5 is so stacked at the moment that his chance of winning is pretty slim, especially since Mvp tends to deliver in the GSL more than marathon tournaments like IPL 5. Rather than have another disappointing finish by getting 1 or 2 wins before falling out of the tournament, it's better to rest, practice, and crush through Code A to get the NesTea award. Does anyone know what's happening with the IPTL Finals? Apparently, it's supposed to be played tomorrow but I haven't heard any news about players being chosen or flown over? I would not get my hopes up though, since Mvp would definitely cancel IPTL before IPL 5, he's not as consistent in team leagues, and IM is known for sending lesser players to get more experience. Also, Mvp was not sent to the previous IPL TAC 3 finals either. Game 4 - Mvp vs. Squirtle (P) on Antiga Shipyard Game 5 - Mvp vs. PartinG (P) on Cloud Kingdom Mvp was the only IM player to take a game today. StarTale was very strong today, but Mvp beat Squirtle (again) and was stopped by PartinG. Going 1-1 is far better than going 0-1, Mvp shows that he's not quite as bad in team leagues as NesTea. None of the remaining 4 players has enough points to overtake Mvp, even if that player wins the championship. That means that Mvp is the #1 player of 2012 in terms of GSL points. Mvp is on top of GSL once again, even though 2012 was supposed to be the year of Mvp's slump. He may not seem like he accomplished much this year, but keep in mind that he won 1 GSL and made another final. There were only 5 GSL seasons this year... he made it to 40% of the GSL finals this year. Health conditions or not, Mvp was born to take over GSL. He won $253,600 (according to SC2 Earnings) in 2011. In 2012 (which is rapidly approaching its end), the closest is PartinG at ~$130,000. It's pretty obvious that PartinG won't be able to match Mvp's earnings. It would be cool to have Mvp immortalized as the player with the greatest StarCraft 2 year ever. Gom already said that they didn't want to drop the blizzard cup before and it was after the schedule was reorganized for having the final rounds in Las Vegas. You have to keep two things in mind : - Blizzard Cup 2011 took place during only a week (that was one of the reproach that was made about it), Mvp played three times in four days last time. - Blizzard Cup is completely independant of code A, as long as they can arrange the possible planning issues. So I don't think we should worry at the moment, let's wait for more informations. | ||
