Players who can knock Naniwa out of the top 16
Based on WCS: Rain - Needs to qualify as 5th from korea to the global season 3 finals (currently at the tiebreakers for 5th place)
Scarlett - Needs to place atleast 6th in the WCS NA (currently in the ro16)
Vortix - Needs to place 1st in WCS Eu OR place 2nd in WCS Eu and place atleast 8th at the global season 3 finals OR place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals (currently in the ro4 in WCS Eu)
soO - Needs to place 1st in WCS Kr OR place 2nd in WCS Kr and place atleast 8th at the global season 3 finals OR place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals (currently in the ro4 in WCS Kr)
Hyun - Needs to place atleast 4th in WCS NA OR place 6th in WCS NA and place atleast 12th at the global season 3 finals (currently in the ro16 in WCS NA)
Dear - Needs to place 1st in WCS Kr and place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals OR place atleast 2nd at the global season 3 finals (currently in the ro4 in WCS Kr)
Genius - Needs to place 1st in WCS Eu and place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals OR place 2nd in WCS Eu and place atleast 2nd at the global season 3 finals OR place 1st at the global season 3 finals (currently in the ro4 in WCS Eu)
Oz - Needs to place 1st in WCS NA OR place 2nd in WCS NA and place atleast 12th at the global season 3 finals OR place atleast 4th in WCS NA and place atleast 8th at the global season 3 finals OR place atleast 6th in WCS NA and place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals.
Then there are the rest of the people in the WCS NA ro16 whom needs to do something like win WCS NA and place atleasth 8th at the global season 3 finals OR qualify for the global season 3 finals and win it.
So how possible is it that any of these things will happen? Well...
The chanses of Rain qualifying for the global season 3 finals ahead of Parting, Jjakji and Trap are pretty high, he faces Jjakji first which he should win, then the winner of Parting vs Trap. So it will probably come down to a PvP, lets hope Rains rock paper scissor isnt his strong side.
The chanses of Scarlett placing atleast 6th at WCS NA are decent, first she has to place second in a group with Nestea, Oz and MacSed. Hopefully her run ends here.
The chanses of Vortix placing top 2 in WCS Eu are close to none, MMA will make short work of him. The chanses of him placing top 4 at the global season finals are even smaller.
I havnt seen that much of soO this season, but he either has to beat Soulkey and then the winne of Maru vs Dear... i feel that he should be out against Soulkey and thus have to place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals, and i feel that is out of his reach aswell.
The chances of Hyun placing atleast 4th in WCS NA OR placing atleast 6th in WCS NA and atleast 12th at the global season 3 finals are pretty high. On a good day Hyun can win WCS NA, on a bad day he will drop out of the ro16 against Hero, Hack and Crank. We would be best of is Hero and Hack advances.
If Dear manages to beat Maru and then win WCS Kr he will have to place 4th at the global season 3 finals... which is realistic of the winner of the strongest WCS region. If he beats Maru then loses the finals, he will have to reach the finals of the global season 3 finals aswell, which has only been achieved by Innovation and Jaedong so far. I feel that Dear is not quite there yet. So i think we can count him out. Send all your power to Maru and hope he takes out Dear in the ro4.
For each match Genius wins from here on out in WCS Eu, he has to place one prize-placement less at the global finals. However i feel that even if Genius would win WCS Eu, there chances are very slim that he would place atleast 4th at the global season 3 finals.
Same thing goes for Oz, a player with relatively bad results recently would have to place very high in his region and then win atleast some games at the global finals. I just dont see it happening.
And for the rest of the people in WCS NA ro16... im sorry i just dont see it happening unless we get some huge upset from MacSed, Sen or some long forgotten korean.
Ofcourse there is also IEM NY to consider, but most of the people who are qualified for it are either higher up than Naniwa on the WCS ranking or knocked out of their region. The potential threats are
ForGG, TLO and Huk.
If Naniwa places last in his group in the ro16 then ForGG would have to place atleast 4th or TLO would have to place 1st. If Naniwa places third in his group in the ro8 then ForGG would have to place atleast 2nd If Naniwa drops out in the ro8 then ForGG would have to place atleast 2nd If Naniwa drops out in the ro4 then ForGG would have to place 1st If Naniwa places 2nd then ForGG has to place 1st
Even if Huk wins IEM NY he would have to atleast qualify for the global season 3 finals and place decently there.
Hack and Hyun are both also in the first stage of IEM NY, and in my humble opinion they are a bigger threat than ForGG. Each prize-placment higher they reach in IEM NY will ofcourse change my previous calculations. So will naniwas placements at IEM NY.
My point with this thread is to show all Faniwas there are still a considerable chance for Naniwa to qualify for Blizzcon. Now its up for us to let the pieces fall where they may, and hope that NaNiwa places higher than Hyun and Hack at IEM NY.

Thanks, very clear! Let's hope nani gets to play Blizzcon, just based on his general performance this I think he should be there no matter what

Naniwa himself does not think this as much as you.

Looks like ForGG dropped out of IEM and Revival replaces.
Both a good and a bad trade. It's not like it is ever a good thing for a player to have to drop out, but replacing him with someone who wasn't either EU region or got far a qual is weird. If I'm allowed to be a bit bitter I think the place should have gone to the 3rd placed Nerchio from the EU qual if he didn't decline, but hey Revival won Shanghai so that's maybe why.

sign me up, best foreigner, gogo nani!

jjakji took down Rain 2-1
I hate to say that since Rain is cool, but it's for the greater good today.

Thank you jjakji

http://thealliance.gg/smaltalk-with-naniwa/ new interview~
At the beginning of the summer you started a blog (In Swedish) in cooperation with one of the Swedish TV networks which probably made a lot of your Swedish fans real happy. But your blog post from 20th of September might worry a lot of your fans? As you said yourself it sounds a bit like a goodbye? Perhaps you have something to say to soothe the minds of all the worried “FaNiwas” out there?
Honestly I am having a lot of thought about my future at the moment. Do I want to keep on gaming or is it time to pick up studying again? I mean, I still love gaming a lot (!) but unfortunately I can’t live this fairytale forever. The number of tournaments is decreasing, so if you don’t make it to BlizzCon or every ECS EY offline – or pretty much has nothing to play for. I’m not a person who really cares that much about the money in the end, but I do care for the competition! If there are not tournaments to compete in there is really no point for me to play. But I will at least wait or next year, so I have time to come to terms with a decision. I don’t feel I am done with StarCraft at all and it would be sad ending my career like this, so I’ll try not to. I hope you guys will help keep me motivated by cheering for me! And I’ll try my best not to insult your favorite casters! ;D
;_; don't leave us
|
NaNiwa in my opinion you do atleast have 1 more year of top level StarCraft within you easily
I think there will still be a good amount of tournaments to play with good opposition and I will keep cheering whatever you deside to do :D
|
Stay motivated, i'll always cheer for you! If you quit Starcraft, i will quit watching Starcraft too, so dont do this to me.
Anyway, go win IEM and don't give a shit about the American crowd. I'm seending my greetings from your not so beloved country Germany!
|
The best part of sc2 is you Naniwa. So I hope you keep playing. I'll probably keep watching sc2 but I am 100% sure it wont be the same with you gone. I am also 100% sure I wouldn't watch IEM this weekend if you would have skipped it!
Keep playing and we'll keep supporting you!
|
The important thing is that you choose what you think is right for you, But I'm sure you will make the right decision and I will support you no matter what
|
Extremely sad about Rain not making it to Seasonal finals/blizzcon, but I guess the silver lining is that that's one less person for nani to worry about... Still hoping!
|
i 100% agree with 5c0rp10n. I started watching SC2 cause of Naniwa, i (maybe) will stop because of him .
But we have NOW. Go win that IEM shit, the tournament you like most, right ;P?
|
Cmon need you at Blizzcon. Without Rain I have no one worth watching - well maybe Taeja.
|
|
Go maru
go soulkey!
Cheering for all players guaranteed for blizzcon already so naniwa got better chance!!!
