I assume it might be because Code A qualifiers are around that same time, and as well GSTL for his team, both of those are sadly more important then IEM.

Yeah I'm really sad that he isn't going to be playing as well..But Code A qualifiers and GSTL match is much more important. Heck if they win GSTL they all get a IPL4 spot anyway.

Fruitdealer was the proof that SC2 is a game of skill. As he won the initial GSL championship, the game was not only considered still imbalanced, it also seemed doubtful that this BrowderCraft actually rewards skill. Also his storyline probably got people to watch. A noname BW pro who had one good series televised, forced to take a break in pro gaming, only to return in SC2 as the mysterious ladder god who wins the GSL with the race which was considered too weak in those days.

Roar by Treat - I always thought of this as the 'FruitDealer' theme-song because of his amazing play and the finals of GSL Season 1.

It's undoubtably sad to see him go. I am often disappointed in SC2, and while a chunk of that is related to Brood War, I can't deny another part was wholly Fruitdealer's fault. For every uninteresting game in the first GSL, he had 2 amazingly interesting ones. He set the bar high for what I would expect out of the game. Sadly, it took almost a year before the game truly got going in a manner that even approached the level of "fun to watch" that Fruitdealer brought in the first season.
