IC put way too many resources into blue flame hellions which then became useless after Idra got his warren out. Considering his strong wall off he quickly saturated his 3rd and had enough to deal with the timing attack that would inevitably come. The timing was much weaker than it could have been considering the wasted investment into blue flame hellions. IC's opening was semi-all-in. He didn't do the damage needed with the hellions to make them worth their investment. After holding off the already weakened timing, Idra just took map control and never gave it back (Idra's knowledge of where drops would come from, ie the preemptive spore crawlers, that was just nice). This is what really impressed me. He drones to 102 and then just trades and trades and trades. Idra is up in supply so even if IC trades evenly with Idra in fights, he loses in the long run to Idra's economy. YOu'll notice that after IC's failed timing, each engagement was initiated by Idra. That's why I just watched this game and I just felt happy. Clear, concise, intelligent play from Idra. Well oiled mechanics. This is the gracken of the old, who struck fear into his opponent's heart with real macro. Edit: don't think i have enough credit to Idra's mechanics this game. They were almost perfect. | ||
