As someone who has done this for a while, I concur. Also here's a nifty thing. If you have units in your control group that you don't want, then you can go something like " 1 -> ctrl+shift+click on unit you don't want " and then it unselects those units. Then you hit ctrl+1 again and you have your new ctrl group without the unit you didn't want in it.
