EXTREMELY SIMILAR?!?!?!?!

youre comparing hands with foots my dear

Idra isn't even extremely polarizing. There are people who love Idra for his stupendous legendary play (we), the people who love Idra when he BMs/etc. (I would hope they aren't around too often), the people who hate Idra for his BM/balance "whine"/etc., and recently people who are sympathetic to Idra and not even about his family death but his gameplay and 2012 slump.

No one would feel sorry if Naniwa just disappeared from esports except his fanboys. That's actual polarizing. He could start by not acting like my little brother who's in high school.

"johan lucchesi ‏@QuanticNaNi
im sorry greggory, i realise i went too far when i asked you to honor your showmatch agreement with me. i shouldve realised u wouldnt play."

Absolutely juvenile.

So what's the difference? Both nani and idra have people who like them for their play and people who dislike them for their immature attitudes.

It's more complicated for Idra.

Naniwa just has fanboys and then there's everyone else. That's what polar means.

I know what polar means. You're not making a distinction. You're just being contrary.

Okay.

1. Love Idra for his stupendous legendary play
2. Love Idra for his BM
3. Hate Idra for his BM
4. Everyone else, as of recently sympathetic concerning his 2012 slump

1. Love Naniwa because you're Swedish or whatever protoss something.
2. Everyone else.

I think it's fine, a lot of people like to say Idra and Naniwa are practically the same and give the comparison like on this page, showing them how they're wrong isn't so bad.

I agree with #1 on your IdrA list even though lots of people would not.

however, do you think that Naniwa hasn't shown good play objectively? I think he has, and therefore #1 for Nani is not fair. I agree that he is socially inept and has a very selfish and disregarding attitude that makes him easy to dislike. but
1. Love Naniwa because you're Swedish or whatever protoss something.
is clearly not objective statement,
1. Love Naniwa because you're Swedish, protoss, or just care about level of play. is more appropriate, would you disagree?

feel free to actually respond to my points and not just the fact that im not hating naniwa.

Yeah I really like Naniwa for his play and his work ethic, but as a person he is actually just not nice. He works super hard and has good results, so he definitely deserves his wins, but on the other hand he is also extremely immature.

NaNiwa is overrated and he probably knows it too. I dont like him as a person, nor his starcraft 2 personality.. Seriously dissing NesTea then saying oh i didnt mean it like that, shows your character of being pathetic and shameful. His just so awkward like his "celebrations & intros" seriously the dirt off the shoulders thing at the GSL, did it make anybody else cringe and with the thumbs down at MLG? I cant be the only one here that thinks this, everytime i see him in a tournament i always ROOT against him just because i dont like him as a person or a player.

Why i like IdrA because his straight forward and isnt scared to say what he wants to say.

Sorry, didn't mean to make it seem like Naniwa isn't talented. He's obviously talented at SC2 but for the idea of what I was talking about, the "why" didn't matter.

I could say 1. Love Idra because you're American, zerg, whatever. and 1. Love Naniwa because he's the most recent GSL foreigner success.

Doesn't matter in the long run when talking about the complexity of IdraxNaniwa comparison.

A Mutalisk for IdrA - The Cheerful of a lifetime

Fellow Grackheads. We all come to this sacred thread every day to bask in the glory that is Gregory "IdrA" Fields, be it fangirling cheering or cursing we are all united in our fandom. And never has our fandom been more important. Greg's recent loss to + Show Spoiler +

Our overseer needs us, and lets not dissapoint him.

Inspired from A Zergling for Jaedong, the IdrA fanclub is now taking on its own project. The concept is simple. We want every IdrA fan to create a little something for IdrA. It could be anything. It could be fanart (skill is not a factor), a supportive letter, a gift, ect. What you make is not an issue, all that matters is that you made it.

Method: Well first you need to make something. Be sure to put your heart and soul into this. But, how are you going to get it to me?

  • Mail: If you live in the US (and I suppose Canada/Mexico too), send me your gift to this address:

    + Show Spoiler +
    Donald Smith, Jr.
    115 E 92nd St
    Cut Off, LA 70345

!Important! Please take a picture or scan your gift to IdrA before sending it to me. It would be so unfortunate if the package would get lost/arrive too late/ect.

  • Email: If you live overseas, don't be discouraged! While IdrA might not get your gift in it's physical form, he can still get a copy. If you can scan your document (fanart/letter), do so and email it! If you can take a picture of whatever you're making, do so and email it!

    + Show Spoiler +
    donaldwsjr@gmail.com

  • Donations: But sometimes a scanned document isn't enough. We'll be doing a mini-donation drive (via PayPal) to assist in this project. With the money collected, we as a fanclub will decide what to buy for IdrA. If you want me to specifically order something with your money instead of going into the collective route, just PM me or message me on skype (wholegrn).

    + Show Spoiler +
    Paypal Email: donaldwsjr@gmail.com

!Important! If you're donating, please at least make a short letter or something for IdrA. We don't want to just throw money at him, we also want to throw love!

Also, we have a skype chat group going on for this project, so if you want to join in, add me on skype (wholegrn), and I'll add you to the group. Nothing important is being discussed there, but it is useful for quick questions. And why not? We might use it more as we discuss what to do with the donations too.

Deadlines: Deadlines won't be super strict, but make it easier for me and get your stuff in on time. If you miss the deadline, there is not guarantee that your stuff will get to IdrA.
  • Mail & Email: May 24th CDT
  • Donations: May 21th CDT

UPDATE: We got some potentially good news that is pushing back this deadline...except we aren't sure when the "new deadline" is. It could be in 3 days, or it could be much longer. So since we're pass the deadlines, there is no guarantee that your letter will be sent, but just know to write it ASAP.

Closing Words:
All I have to say is that I'm really impressed at all of the support that you guys are giving this project. If this succeeds, it will prove that we're not just a fanclub, we're something much bigger. Tell your friends who have any shed of respect for IdrA to help contribute. Even simple letters of encouragement will help. But most importantly, remember that this is for IdrA. He has been preforming bad recently. He needs this. He needs to know that we still support him 100%. We may discuss his flaws and be critical of him, but at the end of the day, we look up to him.

If you have any questions, email, PM, or message me on skype (wholegrn).

Comparing Idra and Naniwa is actually insane. I haven't ever heard of Idra screaming at fans during events. It's one thing to call a player you perceive as bad bad and another thing to yell at random fans and act like a jerk when people come up to you.

My god... what could this mean? Naniwa probably consumes the souls of babies to keep his physical being on this earth. Must be some pact he made with the devil.

We decided (nothing is final of course) what we're going to buy idra. I don't want to post it in the fanclub because even though idra probably knows that we're getting a gift, I'd still want to keep the surprise of what we're getting him. Also I found the Naniwa is a terrible person comment to be hilarious in the video with JP.

I do not like Naniwa at all, but in this case, he is right. IdrA fans have no right to make snide comments in his fan club and vise versa.

Well, in many ways they are similar.
Both:
- are very talented at SC2 (I'm speaking generally, and not based on recent results only)
- speak exactly what is on their mind
- can be a little BM in game and have shown a poor attitude towards meaningless games in the past

From this information, making a decision sure would be hard. Best we look into the differences...

IdrA - A generally nice guy who does so much for the community (e.g. streaming w/ commentary, autograph signings and photo ops with fans at events, community talk shows, and numerous interviews)

Naniwa - A general sociopath who is entirely apathetic toward anything that is not the physical game and his own results

I've been an IdrA fan from the start, but for anyone who feels the need to choose, I think it's pretty straight forward.
