Kitagawa also had an amazing hand, but he unfortunately, he didn't know what to do with it.

Incidentally, I think this is the hand where I dealt the 9 sou, then realized I could've had a chanta.

I meant to say that the first few chapters were pretty funny.

Granted it gets a lot more depressing afterwards, but that's the part I remember the most. I probably dropped it because I started watching Welcome to the NHK!....

Don't read below unless you're either ready to get a bit of spoiling (might ruin it a bit) or you're thinking of quitting the anime because of it (you can quit it for other reasons, but don't let Haneda make you quit).

it's a part of the serious plot
but it's also kinda troll, which is why Ecael and I are in stitches over the last Haneda part followed by the ED

? The documentation site's still relevant.

The only things you need to know to use Tenhou:
How to login
How to join lobbies
How to use the game interface

That's literally it. AFAIK, no updates have changed those parts of the site.

Here's some things to look out for:

Know the tiles, especially the winds and dragons. Learning the manzu tiles can be tricky if you don't know basic chinese/japanese
Read the entire game procedure section and understand it.
Learn how to call tiles (pon, chi, kan)
Learn basic yaku. It seems pretty overwhelming at first, but it's not really that hard since there's a couple general patterns to it. The intermediate to advanced stuff you'll never get 90% of the time. The only one of those you could probably get with regularity is chitoitsu, and it's hard enough as is.
Conditional han (haitei, rinshan kaihou, chankan) you will most likely never get, but they're awesome because they're in so many mahjong shows. It's worth a look just because of that. Same goes for yakuman hands.
Learn how dora work. It's the #1 easiest way to make your hand worth more.
Skim over how tenpai/noten works in the case of a stalemate. It's easy. Basically if the round ends and you're in tenpai, you get points. If you're noten, you give points to the other players.
Know how furiten works or you'll be slaughtered by it in an actual game, guaranteed.
Knowing how scoring is done is nice, but not necessary since Tenhou handles all the calculations.
