If anyone wants to go ahead and start the tradition in the next couple days. I'm still waiting for Girlish number's last episode to finish and that might or might not take a while. At least 7 days from now because HS release~ But others might be done with the season sooner seeing as Izetta is already done, Stella no Mahou is already done, Magical Girl raising project is done, yuri on ice is done, Keijo is done in 20 hours etcetc.
Of course like always, you're free to add whatever kind of category you want yourself at the bottom for shitz and giggles. The above is just the standard one.
Does non-completed anime count? I hardly watch airing so prob won't be able to do much for such a tradition.

If you are talking about running 2-cour shows then I would say yes. I'm not going to wait another 3 month to state that 3-gatsu is AotY...
yeah same, I'm going to include 3-gatsu as well and just bank on Shaft not screwing up in the next 3 months. Don't think we really had a situation like that before with a 2cour that actually deserves to be on the list while not being finished. iirc we consider stuff to be from the season it started airing (so 3gatsu would belong into this year and not the next) but at the same time because it's fall season it's not finished yet
OH BTW, it's dec 21st, so Kizumonogatari is out on BDs. If someone finds something on nyaa or elsewhere would be nice if you could mention it in here. With Christmas days incomming I'm probably going to forget about it and so far I could only find the OST
Izetta sucked. The premise was good, but they squandered it. + Show Spoiler +
Using magic for nukes and cruise missiles is a novel (and arguably logical) idea, but it ends up being silly because the entire setting basically becomes irrelevant.
It's cool that they were willing to kill characters, but the way they went about it made often made it feel pointless. The deaths of Rickert, the random boy soldier, and the head advisor were all pretty meh.
In general, the way they used characters sucked. The ace pilot was relevant for a total of what, two episodes? I don't even know why they bothered showing him in the ending, because he literally didn't do anything after his one dogfight with Izetta.
Probably one of the worst written shows I've finished this year, alongside Kabaneri.
Eupho s1 > Eupho s2. The writing's bizarre. A third of the season is spent talking about literal nobodies. Two of the main four girls are relegated to the background. Shuuichi is still billed as the love interest despite being a laughingstock of a character. Reina's unrequitted love is cute when used as a joke, but once they start addressing it seriously, it gets creepy. + Show Spoiler +
Seriously, what am I supposed to feel when Reina visits the wife's grave? I honestly can't tell what the author intended. Is this supposed to be a heartwarming scene? It's just a really fucking weird thing to do.
Why is Kumiko the sole POV for this show anyways? Everything's shown through her eyes, but half of the stuff that happens isn't even related to her. She's not even particularly introspective.
Brave Witches is pretty awful. It's a little weird, because the OVAs had perfectly good animation and stories. There's also no Eila/Sanya to carry the show, I guess.
Drifters is Drifters. Either you like B-movies or you don't.
Yuri on Ice is probably the disappointment of the season. The skating animation looks good when they put effort into it, but on the other hand, it really shows when they skimp. The story is actually nonexistant. There's no real sense of development or progression. It's really telling that to me, the most interesting storyline was the rivalry between Yurio and JJ, and even that got an unsatisfactory resolution. In the end, the show is a bunch of skating scenes loosely tied together with fujoshi bait. It sure did sell though.
Girlish Number was awful. Chitose was entertaining for maybe 2-3 episodes, but after 11 episodes, I've grown pretty tired of her. Yae and Koto are fairly irrelevant. Kazuha and Momoka are pretty decent, and the show was actually good when it focused on them. I couldn't care less about the current Chitose/Kuzu focused arc. Frankly, it's a little surprising that the characters in this show are so bad, considering that Oregairu had so many decent characters. Hell, Gojo is practically a Hachiman clone.
Jojo was alright, but as much as I like Kira, part 4 is definitely one of the weaker parts. Even in the climax, it lacks the intensity that stuff like Wham's fights or Dio's World had. That said, I'm pretty satisfied with their adaptations of the Italian and sniper rat stories.
Haikyuu was better than the manga. Again. It's pretty impressive how consistent they've been.
3-gatsu is good. I think this is one of the few Shaft shows where they actually manage to put the Shaftiness to good use.
Bernard-jou Iwaka was pretty enjoyable for a short.
Before the season started, I said that it was impossible to screw up Natsume. It's honestly true. After 5 seasons, some of the youkai of the week stuff has gotten pretty repetitive, but even then, it's not outright bad. This season in particular had some really strong episodes. We even got some rare Natori and Touko stories. And now we get Natsume Roku in 2017. They're on a roll.
I also finished MJP. The story... was not very good. Can't say I liked the character designs either. The fight choreography was really good though. Heck, ep 14 had such a good fight that the finale paled in comparison. I don't think any of the main characters were particularly good, but all things considered, the supporting cast ended up being surprisingly likeable.
Next season...
Watching Little Witch Academia - If this is on par with the OVA and movie, it'll be one of the better shows of the season. Rewrite s2 - Mostly so I can bitch about it. Also they better use canoe. Rakugo s2 - I liked the first season a lot. Youjo Senki - Literally Hitler. It'll be edgy as fuck, which will either make it great or awful.
Maybe Chaos;Child - Honestly, sciadv stuff has been pretty awful lately. They've had what, four animes now, and only one of them was actually worth watching? Granblue Fantasy - I fully expect this to suck. Kuzu no Honkai - 99% guaranteed to be love triangle bullshit. Onihei - A promise of vaguely legit historical fiction? Sign me up. Seiren - Who knows.
There's also a new Goemon-centric Lupin movie which is supposed to be a sequel to the Jigen movie. The Fujiko tv series sucked, but Jigen's Gravestone was pretty good, so I'm actually feeling positive about this. I also wouldn't mind a new series considering how well made Lupin 2015 was. Regardless, we won't be seeing it for another 6-9 months.
Don't think we really had a situation like that before with a 2cour that actually deserves to be on the list while not being finished. iirc we consider stuff to be from the season it started airing (so 3gatsu would belong into this year and not the next) but at the same time because it's fall season it's not finished yet
Wat. It happens every year.
The bottom line is put whatever you want on the list because it's all arbitrary anyways.
