If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Love Live, at the very least, looks a bazillion times better than KonoSuba. Even its CGI concert dancing scenes look better than KonoSuba

I mean, if they didn't cut the fanservice you'll get fanservice and even more yuribait from kyoani, Numy.

Still anime images are generally worse off than manga so that's rather normal. It's really all the small things from motion/sounds that make up for it. Kyoani did have some niice ass in Amagi so maybe they are comfortable doing a little fan service every now and then. I know that's my only hope left in life. Please Kyoani. Do it for Hibike. Do it for life. Do it for love.

You could just rewatch Amaburi and hope that KyoAni does more stuff like that in the future

Maybe make Tooru actually seem interested in yuri heheh besides it being the one sided affair it is now (since I doubt the author will actually get them together).

Though to be honest I don't really consider maid-dragon to be super fan service heavy or anything so its not like much would change even if they toned down what is already there.

My heart can only take so much ;(. At least Symphogear i'm pretty sure they all gay. No way they not gay. Tsubasa may have a thing for the one guy since her partner died but rest i'm 100% sure ok.

Kyoani is like that perfect girl that just lets you linger in stasis in the murky border between "friends" and "partners" until one finally she dates some super model doctor who is just so dam nice that you can't even hate the guy. Now you too old and used up to ever find anyone else so you just sit as their third wheel as her future husband is too nice to just abandon you after she does.

Yeah it's not like the series is just fanservice left and right. Unlike some of the author's other series'

The MC is incredibly androgynous though, could easily convince people it was a guy if they didn't know anything about the series.

Didn't expect that from kyoani.

Gotta wonder if they'll leave in all of the fanservice though, or if that's getting cut.

You mean you didn't expect KyoAni which turned random side chara (male) in FMP into yuri incest sisters to do this?

Watched ep3 of All Out. Question: Is it common for sports anime to not show the actual game all that much? I only watched Chihayafuru which could be considered similar and while they wouldn't show the whole game they would show the important parts, in betweens and most importantly you always had an idea of what was going on and who was ahead. The first game in All Out was nothing like that. Mostly talking, flashbacks and inner thoughts. Only a handful of plays. If the whole show is like this it will be pretty terrible.

As the resident sports animu connoisseur, I can tell you that the majority of sports anime do show a big chunk of the matches (but obviously not all). However, practice matches often only get one or two episodes as they prefer to move towards the actual good parts quickly. Practice matches, especially the very first one of the series, mainly aim to provide an introduction to everyone's relative skill level.

Haikyuu, Ace of Diamond, Major, Ookiku Furikabutte, Hajime no Ippo, Kuroko, and many others all show a good to decent amount of match time.

Just read Baby Steps, the slowest most detailed sports manga of all time.
They spend, and I am not kidding, 26 chapters on a single tennis match. That is two whole book volumes.
If you translate that to the pace of the anime (which probably will never get there), that would mean 3 and a half episodes on on single match! That is like 'real time' sports tempo.

3.5 episodes for 26 chapters is way too low unless they're shorter than 20 pages each. Your average late-night anime covers 2 to 4 weekly chapters per episode (excluding cuts) so it'd take atleast 6 episodes.

Speaking of long matches, One Outs had one baseball match that lasted 10 episodes and it still managed to be pretty tense.

I mean haikyuu looks to be using + Show Spoiler +
the entirety of season 3 on a single match (10 episodes)

edit: i should update the thread more often, didn't see souma already pointed that out, gg.

Stop it guys, Haikyuu!! is positively fast paced compared to Baby Steps.
Maybe the anime adaptation takes more time per chapter, I don't know.

But reading a sports manga that for half a year focused on just one tennis match (an it was not even a tournament final) sure took a toll on it's readers...

I didn't talk about the pacing of the respective series, you just made a post talking about spending 3½ entire episodes on a single match and we pointed out that haikyuu is currently spending 10 episodes on a single match, there's nothing else to it.

Also the opening i'm currently at for pokémon X&Y is quite nice

Haikyuu is legit good, it's not some 10/10 perfect anime but it's good without a doubt

Likable characters, uses a lot of time on the sport, matches are exciting, soundtrack and animation are good, no real asspulls or idiotic over the top things. It's just good, fun and enjoyable.

it also manages to always have some top tier openings

+ it helps for me that it's a sport i think is pretty fun to begin with, couldn't watch a sports anime if i didn't like the sport tbh

Yeah, I think Volleyball is a pretty fun sport. Alright, I trust you guys on it and put it on my ptw. Or I may start watching it shortly.

Japan needs to get off their asses and make a handball anime tbh.

Make it women's handball and fill it with yuri for all i care, just give me a handball anime god damnit. Handball is a great spectator sport and it could easily make a great anime.
Would also give me more sports anime i want to watch, so that'd be nice. Looking forward to yowamushi pedal's third season for that reason.

Fuck yes. I might be confusing something here but I think their women national team isn't even half bad, either. I remember googling for a handball anime but there isn't one. I think there is a 10 chapter manga about it which is quite bad apparently and that's it. : / Watching handball on a regular basis I can savely say that this would be a sport I would be excited about watching as an anime. Provided they don't use CGI for running sequences of the whole team all the time, like in All Out...

Thanks Souma. I think I'll give it a few more eps. I watched Hajime no Ippo at one point but put it on hold after ep9 because there were other things I wanted to watch instead. Never picked it up again.
