It's all about the spirit. I didn't dive into anime before 2014, either. I was interested in the popular stuff at first, but my curiosity soon led me to "less popular" and older shows. I like to explore everything a medium has to offer, regardless of the age. It often turns out that there are quite some gems hidden in the older stuff that feature a lot of things shows of today lack. I can only encourage you to watch those recommendations, whatever they are, someday. You probably won't regret it.

+ Show Spoiler [Katanagatari ep9] +Wtf was that? A freaking shoujo drama with horrible comedy? -.- Hope the next episodes will be more like the other ones because this episode was utterly annoying. The rest has been decent so far. It's not super amazing but it's mostly well made.
Also started watching Ao Haru Ride. This is a mixed bag. Some decent parts, some cringe-worthy parts and some parts where I can't help but face-palm. I kind of like the MC, so it's still somewhat enjoyable but it's not very good.

I watched the first two EPs of Black Lagoon. What are the thoughts on the show? Can't tell if it's going to be good or not, but so far it's better than 95% of the stuff I've watched from this most recent reason.

The Polka girl with the hat? They were Finland.
But man, the TV Series was really good, and then the movie was even better than what I hoped! Only complaints I have about the movie are tiny (like Saunders not getting as good parts as the other rivals schools, even tho Kay is the best).
And from what I understand, they are actually speaking good Russian in the show. Much better than the English and German, at any rate lol

At least I wasn't bored and usually I get bored by this kind of stuff after 5 minutes at most. This is still going to be a drag, even more so if they don't defeat Hakumen in the next episode.

My understanding was that there was some weird shit with the Russian. Apparently one of the VAs is actually Russian though.

All these sudden jumps between "oh my brother is so cute in girl's clothes" and "my brother is disgusting"... It's probably due to the rather big time-jumps that occur from time to time. But still, it comes off kind of weird.
At this point, I'm about 98 % sure it's the rough translation that makes it hard to follow at times.
