Prison School may have some of the most "normal" drawing of girls in anime I've seen and tasteful moments involving sexual themes while also having some truly outrageous moments. Soma is the same. The whackyness around it doesn't really get into fetish land often but when it does people tend to blow it up so it creates that impression. I'm not arguing on that.
And while the rest of Souma (or Prison School for that matter) might be different, I still don't think it will hit my humour or will be very enjoyable for me.

lol Souma in the same breathe as Prison school... a panda just died. Stop killing Pandas.

It was Numy who did that, but I agree. Numy has a point, but I personally loved Shokugeki no Souma (which is indeed a Shounen) while I didn't really enjoy Prison School, which is way more extreme.

prison school anime doesnt capture the soul from the source, the manga is still funny as fuck, the writer for sure has a hole in his brain xD

When I started watching Souma I thought 'ok, so there's this food porn thing going on here, kinda hope that slows down at some point', which it did, but the actual content and focus of the series ended up being so interesting that I wasn't bothered by it anyway, and now I actually find the ecchi moments funny. It grows on you, if you let it.

I wish Bungou Stray Dogs had been like this from the start.

I actually forgot Rewrite was coming up so soon. Need to finish the damn VN first, I'm only like 10 hours into it
I'm so far behind on everything so I'm in catch up mode atm. The only anime I've been able to start from last season so far is Re: Zero.

Who is animating Rewrite? Its not Deen or JC Staff, is it?

Heres hoping that the story and the different routes feel more cohesive being done as an anime. Rewrite was a good VN, but the different routes disagreed too much with each other.

Does 8bit even have access to decent directors/script writers to pull that off? I have my doubts.

so the internet has been raving how Souma is some kind of revolutionary shounen food-orgasm series like it hasn't been made before, things like Yakitate Japan is out there but i guess it's mostly baking so it's completely different
|
I haven't seen anyone call it revolutionary, just that it's good and very fun to watch/read.

I'm not sure how they will handle actually producing an anime. AFAIK they normally just handle animation or CGI production.
edit: According to ANN, that's indeed what they are doing, producting the animation. Aniplex is the producer for the show.

Hell most of the anime community think anything before 2010 is too old. Internet being dumb is nothing new.

I couldn't imagine restricting myself to exclusively anime newer than 2010
Imagine missing out on Monster, LoGH, TTGL, Katanagatari, Gundam, Gunbuster and a ton of other classic, great and wonderful anime with many of them still easily holding up to or surpassing today's animation quality.
