Really looking forward to Part 4 though.
Yeah I havent been watching much stuff this was literally the only thing I was dropping everything for.
Whats the eta on Diamonds ?

+ Show Spoiler + Well Yui already told Raku how she feels. However I feel like her job in the manga is basically to act as a catalyst to get the other girls and Raku to get off their asses and do something. Her early appearance and comments basically point to her having this role.

+ Show Spoiler +She's definitely plot device to make Chitoge/Kosaki act or at least Chitoge .
She'll be the one to force some reaction out of the 3.

I haven't found any announcements for Diamonds so currently no ETA.
I must say being the noob I am with manga the Jojo anime series really was surprisingly awesome to me. I'll be sad if there isn't more. I don't particularly enjoy manga as a medium so if it ends or takes awhile to get next part I doubt i'll read the manga. Stands overall seem like they have the same interesting potential as NEN does although without all the cool rules NEN does lol.
|
yo numy you got it the other way around, nen most certainly inspired by jojo lol, every mangakan with decent success would have been influenced by jojo at some point, Hirohiko is respected up there as god tier by the industry. If compared, great work like HxH is merely touching the surface of the super power fightings in JoJo, my friend who is a huge fan of HxH said that after i introduced him to jojo haha.
Wait until you see JoJo4/5 and the insanity in 6. Remember JoJo3 came out in late 80s lol. I absolutely dont mean to stir up shit of HxH vs JoJo but people who read them will see where am i coming from haha.
|
I'm not talking about who inspired who so I don't really see what you on about. NEN has structure and rules where as Stands as a whole only really have loose rules which means each individual can be as wacky as he wants where as NEN has to get it's wackiness from playing within the structure of the power which I find is more interesting. Creating a magic/power system structure then using that to create cool powers to me is a lot more interesting/harder to do than merely creating really cool one off powers which is largely what stands are.
|
actually, since we wont get jojo4 for at least for awhile anyway, why dont you go have a read of JoJo6? The opening arc blew my friend's mind haha. JoJo6 is sort of like a direct sequel of Jotaro's story so you wont have problem reading it.
Try the first 1 or 2 volumes of JoJo6 and you can stop after that (if only you could stop reading lol) just to see what i meant there.

thats what i am talking about, because stands do have rules but they are not that structured in JoJo3 lol. Compared to JoJo's sickening 'brain cell draining for readers' fights (mostly in post-jojo3), HxH's nen is the scratchy magical power.
although stands do become more abstract after 6. The ongoing JoJo8 is some proper weird shit.

I've read through the wiki regarding stands and didn't see any real structure aside from loose rules I mentioned before. Is the wiki completely wrong then? Stands have almost limitless possibilities but that makes the power system less interesting to me than Nen at least from all I can gather but you are saying that I am wrong and stands have a strict structure like Nen?

I am saying that just because Hirohiko didnt write up pages of word to set up the rules doesn't mean that it has 'loose rules' or less 'rule-ness' than HxH. Because in HxH the 'rules' are a pile of plot device to try to explain the balance of the characters but we know that it is an alternative version of DBZ-like power levels, some characters just overwhelmingly better than some others; while in JoJo almost every enemies give the jojos some throat cutting/near death fights, the 'rules' in JoJo is more about the real world physics, how the stand users use their powers are bound to the rules of the real world.
Stand is the manifestation of one's mental/spirit and the ultimate rule in JoJo is about 'determination' or 'strong will' will decide how strong the stand user is, there is no good bad low high level abilities (hence no need for a power system), everyone is on the even ground.
It is so hard to explain really because there is a 'switch' from the stand powers after JoJo3, like we dont get Avdol that kind of magical fireball attack after jojo3 anymore (there is still some elemental type of stands but they are no longer illustrated like that magically). Red Hot Chili Pepper in jojo4 comes to mind haha.
oh i fcking love jojo.

Idk about Jojo, I watched like 14 episodes but couldn't keep watching for some reason. It's not like it was boring, though. + Show Spoiler +Maybe has something to do with the fact that main characters just die and die off, like there's already a 2nd Jojo after 12 episodes or so, and apparently after every season or so? Idk, I don't really like that.
Shokugeki was good yesterday, but it wasn't close to my favorite episodes of it.

I don't know if you read novels or not but just view each "season" as a new book instead of a continuation of a current story. The "main character" of the story isn't any individual but instead the whole Joestar line. So each season is merely a new book/story in the same universe instead of it being a new "arc" in a single story. Personally feel a lot of material adapted could do with expanding past the characters/time it focuses on.
@Sera - I get the feeling I somehow caused you to get defensive lol. I like what he does with stands and I like how he uses the stands themselves. That is all cool. Just as a system I don't particularly like it as to me it feels more like the old fantasy magic where there isn't really a "system" but more about "what new cool thing can I do with this". When I talk about magic systems I think of stuff like Allomancy/Hemalurgy/Feruchemy from Mistborn ,Surgebinding in Stormlight or going a little more obtuse Warrens/Holds in Malazan. None of those will make any sense unless you read them but I don't really know how to describe it. I like having "fixed" rules in a system then seeing how character manipulate those rules or bend them in a way to use power one didn't expect.

Watched episode 1-4 of Hourou Musuko and this is just cute as fuck. + Show Spoiler +I like how the transexual issue is neither overplayed nor ignored. The characters are pretty cool too. Shuu kind of doesn't do much but his wish is the most impossible I think so he gets the most suffering. Yoshino can wear all the guy clothes she wants but I hope she gets a more compelling problem later down the line. Chiba always speaks her mind and it seems she could be catalyst for quite a big change later.

Hinako in Souma is so qt btw

Yea that's a bit more than kinda nsfw. I'm more into the tender session spanning from the dinning room to the bedroom ending with a snuggle on the couch than a straight up munching while playing.
OK moving on! Silver Spoon is just fantastic. It seems to be blending comedy with character progression and just general SoL stuff really well. The character designs really remind me of FMA:B. Oh just doing some investigation it looks like same artist/mangaka is involved with it? That's a pretty crazy change from what she's done lol

meh, so many people are hyped about Jojo and I just can't enjoy it. Don't know why but it annoys the hell out of me.
