As far as I know 16.5 hasn't been confirmed to be canon by the author or even that he wrote it. I'd still say it was well written enough for it to be real. | ||

The anime followed the published version where it cuts off as soon as Kirito and Asuna have their misunderstanding. I have no idea where Chapter 16.5 came from though. Did Reki Kawahara write it? Did baka-tsuki write it? Someone else entirely? I couldn't find a Japanese version of it when I looked before. | ||

Wouldn't killing Kuradeel mark Kirito as a red player? Unless I'm forgetting something. I doubt if Knights of the Blood would want a red player in their member list, so Kirito might be guildless again. Haven't read the novels so I don't know if the novels give an explanation for that. | ||
