If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

School days was the first anime I ever saw. I don't regret it.

Wow! What a great list! Where did you find it? I'm sure something like that must have taken a lot of effort! We should do more to publicize it and make sure people know that there's such a great resource out there for people who haven't really watched that many anime before.

Anyone have any ideas on how we can tell everyone who comes into this thread that these recommendations are readily available?

Can I just say that that list was completely useless to me because after looking through all the fantasy animes I can't find anything that sounds close to being as good as Claymore T_T. Maybe I'll just try FMA again.

You're not supposed to just look at the picture.

i don't know the series, but it can only mean one of two things:

1) the release you have is shit (like from a streaming site) but why not the 18 previous episodes <.<
2) the budget ran out (like tetsuwan birdy decode... some scenes later in the series look like sketches -.-)

choose your pick, pick your choice.

unrelated i checked eureka seven ao, i did not watch the original one... and damn, now i might have to, bones certainly lures me in way too often with its shows and then gives shitty endings left and right with few exceptions -.-

This is false, neither of those reasons are legit.

Here is the real reason for the big change in animation for Aquarion ep19: They brought in a guest animator for that episode. From time to time, series bring in famous guest animators or directors to do a single episode here or there. Similar thing happened with Gurren Lagann episode... 3 or 4, I can't remember. But yeah, that episode was odd, to say the least.

Are you seriously judging how good an anime is based off only its description?

Quite enjoyable setting and I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters. The merchant aspect was more exciting than I thought it would be.

Nice with some backstory for Jonah. I can see this becoming very interesting later on considering the triangle that is Koko, Casper and Jonah, hah.

Now then, time for Sousei no Aquarion... *crosses fingers for a non pathetic main char*

The MC of Aquarion is anything other than pathetic. Hes crazy.

Yes, I've read all the English translated novels and they're great. It really helps to know about the work of literature being referenced beforehand in terms of enjoyment and interest but not needed. ZNF has also read 3 of the 4 unless he recently got his hands on the newest one. They also make you see the movie in a different light because you see the true relationships between all the characters. It's a lot more interesting than the movie lets on. Nanase is amazing tsundere and I read all her lines in Nana's voice. Eagerly awaiting book 5 in July :D Also, you should watch the OVA's featuring each different heroine if you haven't already. Nanase is sooooo cute in hers but Touko was great as always too. Miu was...well, Miu.

Haha Im no big Nana fan but I started my marathon (+ reread) this morning and I couldnt help but do the same. Then I remembered reading this.

Although admittedly more the Nana as Tsubasa then whatever she did for Kotobuki in the movie (going to watch that by tonight probably) provided they were any different.

Finished Saya no Uta. It was pretty darn good, one of the best I've read actually.

It was quite nasty (compared to KnS at least), especially the whole + Show Spoiler +
transformation stuff and saya's "blooming"
. But it's just fiction so it didn't really disgust me too much, it contributed nicely to the theme of it all. Uta too darn weak, yo.

And no joke aboit it being more risque than other things I've read, lol. But I didn't mind as unlike most other stuff it actually contributed well to the story in this case.

Edit: Screw Ryouko. So annoying.

I love that I can always come back to this thread only to see people discussing School Days (AGAIN). It looks like the next big thing is Kuroko no Basuke (at least according to the crazy jump in fan art posted over the last few days on Pixiv.) Not that I'm blaming anyone - for me there's always time for more sports anime.

I love Kuroko no Basuke, i think its because i´m kinda in the same position as him. I also play basketball for my school and i really dont look like a good basketball player but then in the Games baaaam they get some in their face same as Kurokocchi does impress everyone when they play the first time against (or with) him. I searched for the manga and saw that there are more than 100 chapters out. I didnt want to spoiler myself cause i like how the anime is with the comedy and Kurokos
behavior and i´m looking so forward for the next games they will play. But is it a 12 or 24 episode anime adaption ? If its only 12 episodes i think they can´t show everything . + Show Spoiler +
Episode 5 and only the second player from the generation of miracles is introduced and they have to play the whole tournament

I think too that there should be more sports anime. At the moment im very happy with Ginga e Kickoff,Kuroko no Basuke and Area no Kishi :D

Blasphemy!!! Lol, okay, it's a little corny, and it was 6 years ago when I first saw it (holla back, young'n), but I loved the ending and I still do (re-watched it a couple months ago). I've seen other, better animes, but I think my emotional response to Eureka Seven's ending is still stronger than that of any other anime (series or movie, well, maybe not Grave of the Fireflies, but who wants to feel like that ever again.....).

I haven't seen a bad BONES project yet, and I've seen more than a few. In no particular order: Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Mars Daybreak, Xam'd: Lost Memories, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Ouran High School Host Club (definitely the lowest rung of this ladder, but still solid), and I've heard great things about RahXephon and good things about Darker than Black and Kurau Phantom Memory. Which shows are you referring to?

I haven't seen a bad BONES project yet, and I've seen more than a few. In no particular order: Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Mars Daybreak, Xam'd: Lost Memories, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Ouran High School Host Club (definitely the lowest rung of this ladder, but still solid), and I've heard great things about RahXephon and good things about Darker than Black and Kurau Phantom Memory. Which shows are you referring to?

i just do not think rah xephon / wolf's rain / bonen no xam'd / the first fma had a well made ending...
and that is sad because i liked all shows very much UNTIL the end -.-

but i just cannot not watch bones anime that interest me because they do get it from time to time ^.<
angelic layer / gosick / soul eater so beautiful x)

no.6 i did not bother after the first episode, i know better than mistrusting my instincts^^

I can understand xam'd for sure, and I guess even FMA had an iffy ending I guess.

Also, are you insinuating that Gosick was better than Xam'd?

the ending, yes, the rest, no, gosick is basically detective conan in a different setting ^.<
