If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Just thought id share this.

Convinced me to subscribe to crunchyroll :
Also his Anime reviews are pretty good quality unlike 90% of youtube reviewers out there. I think this guy deserves more subscribers.

Here an example of one of his reviews

I enjoyed it, was a fun show. The protag was surprisingly likable, despite constantly whining and all-in-all being an extreme morale-fag. Also thought his "I don't hit women" was annoying as well. Was hoping in one of the episodes he'd finally realize he was more being an ass than having good morals in that respect.

Though the fight scenes were as anime-ish as ever. Half the fights are the people fighting talking or outsiders giving their opinion on the the fight, the other half is actually fighting. Fights are always both fighters extremely underestimating each other and always calling the fight over before it's actually over, and then acting surprised at nearly everything their opponent does.

Also the ending felt really abrupt.

Still, it was a fun show that I enjoyed and would watch more of. Looks like I started it at a good time too. An OVA is coming out in a few weeks for it.

Abrupt ? Its the end of an arc, theres like god knows many after that. Besides the anime is like what 5-6 years old ? Sentenal will tell you thats really ollllldddddddddd. Its a reasonably long running series at this point. Not that it gets amazing or anything/ Thats kinda the formula for most shounenesque fight stuff anyway I dont think it tries to trick you into thinking otherwise at any point. + Show Spoiler +
It took him 450 something chapters to hit a girl.. once. Infact it was pretty recent.

Its pretty generic with lots of teaser style ecchi and more of what you are talking about. I didnt get some of the things you were talking about but maybe I just dont remember. It doesnt happen like that in the manga anyway (well aside from the explaining of whats going on. Its more of the same later really Masters are more involved, lots of godlike stuff going with them fighting people, panty shots, Miuservice etc etc. With Kenichi just being in the way because well its him.

Seems like getting spoilered for Another didnt turn out to be the worst thing in the world.

Wow, this is pretty good. It does a pretty good 20 questions. I tried going Kumagawa from Medaka Box and it nailed it.

It only seems good because it's collected so much data over however long it's been around. The trick is to use someone very general and cliched that consequently sounds like many popular characters at once. Kumagawa is far too unique so it's quite easy to pinpoint him after 20 questions. Here's an example: let's take Kugimiya Rie who does a ton of cliched tsundere who are all the same. Now let's choose one that isn't as well known and incredibly general. Yuuhi Katagari. Oh hey look he couldn't get it and she's not even on the list of possibilities. Now let's use one that's a little more unique: Astarotte Ygvar. Oh hey he got it, what a surprise. Too predictable.

LOL that explanation was so bad. Not surprised though since we knew they would have to make some excuse to stay "true to the story" after throwing in that extra death. I'm really getting annoyed myself at what Ecael describes as "we're so clever lol hints." Not much to say about this ep...more deaths of random characters that may or may not be canon but pretty much did nothing to add to the story or mystery. Looking forward to Ecael's rant on this.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but I thought I would discuss this since it's the obvious new theory we can guess. I actually thought about it 2 weeks ago, but now the additional evidence just make it more interesting. If the problem is that there is an extra student, the permanent solution would be to "remove" that extra student. In other words, kill it. This is even more supported by the fact that the dude who left the tape wants to atone for his "sin", potentially a murder. If my memory serves correctly, I believe 3 people also died at the shrine (and so it is possible the last one was a murder). Simple as that. I really don't think this guy could have thought of something more complicated than that at the time, especially since he probably had few information. However, we won't know for sure until we hear the rest of the tape.

There are still elements of mystery that have not been addressed. Misaki is still just as mysterious as usual. We still don't have an explanation to the trollish hand bullshit. With few episodes left, we can be more or less sure that we will obtain precious information next week, just as we did this week (arguably).

My guess for this week : Misaki is the dead person, and the calamity will be stopped once she get slaughtered (or possibly someone else get slaughtered). Oh also, one of the next deaths will be by fire. Source : episode 1 first 1.5 minutes (contains a ton of info of stuff we already know and so I'm just extrapolating). I hope Ecael had a good laugh!

He jumps down from the sky and says "I'm back", then it rolls to credits. No after the large finale battle talk, no "well what happens now?", no celebration after defeating the guys you spent the last 40+ episodes having to deal with, just done. End of the series as anime fans know it. No real closure makes it a pretty abrupt ending.

I know it's old lol, I saw it's release date. I'm not really sure your point in bringing that up.

Why would there be closure ? Its not the end of the story, what you want ? A big party celebrating the fact that he did in the larger context things pretty much nothing ? They probably felt like they should leave it open for continuing it just incase. Theres tons of shows like that. Maybe because its the first time youve seen it that it feels unfulfilling but its nothing particularly unique or annoying to most people. You could say the same things for almost any show that has alot of source material and the majority of shounen anime adaptations. Theres a plethora of characters in there that got decent time aswell. It wasnt all about him so that lends to explaining the length of the show in itself.

Id rather they do this then some convoluted conclusion they always tend to come up with when they do attempt closing it out.

It was the end, because nothing else came after it in terms of anime. Hence, it was the last episode, and the end. Not asking for them to do something like: "He lived happily ever after", or "And he was the strongest ever, the end". Just some sort of actual conclusion showing the aftermath of the battle. Feels unsatisfactory for him and his group to win this large fight, and then not be told what happened to those involved afterwords.

It not the end -.-....they did that on purpose so if they ever wanted to, they could add in a season 2 without totally screwing up the plot and the manga wise. We dont want another Full metal alchemist brotherhood situation to happen again, it was a good thing brotherhood was really good. But the point is, is that it is not the end. Just read the manga and you will understand. In fact, it a perfect ending imo. It leave them room if they want to ever start a season 2 or not since it can end it here (which they probably are).

Netflix...? Give up, join the legion and watch your shit on the internet. Plus all the good anime isn't even on Netflix, hell most of it isn't even in English.

Suggestions? What kind of genre do you like? Specify please, until then here's a suggestion for each genre:

Mecha:
Gundam Seed (English available)
Code Geass (English)
Full Metal Panic (English)

Supernatural:
Deathnote (English)
Steins;Gate (Japanese)

Action:
Full Metal Alchemist + Brotherhood (English)

School Life:
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Japanese)

Romance:
Toradora (Japanese)
Nodame Cantabile (Japanese)

There is tons of others but my mind is blank and really I don't know what you specifically like.

I can give more specific recommendations once you start watching more anime and you know what you like but this should give you a good start

Full Metal Alchemist is probably one of the better "newbie" animes imo, the original was one of the animes that really got me hooked when they decided to show it on swedish television and helped quite a few of my friends get into it all aswell.

Most people believe that the Brotherhood edition is better but personally I think that the "poor ending" of the original is worth dealing with rather than dealing with the "new style" of Brotherhood, which I think is just asdsjsjjskm-worthy. Plot there is a bit better (mainly at the latter half of the series) but the style is less fitting to the series as a whole.

Plus Brotherhood completely ruins Hughes, which fucking sucks bigtime.

I agree, but Mustang totally makes up for it. Every time I saw him about to light someone on fire I was screaming "BURRRN MUTHAFUKA BURRRRRRNNNNN!!!!!!" So loud at 3 AM on a school day that my parents almost took my computer outside and shot it like that crazy dad in Texas over a silly facebook post by his daughter. I digress. Just watch both, you won't be disappointed.

Convinced me to subscribe to crunchyroll :
Also his Anime reviews are pretty good quality unlike 90% of youtube reviewers out there. I think this guy deserves more subscribers.

Here an example of one of his reviews

Mustang is cool, but he is pretty much that guy who just cleans shit up. He cannot compare to original Hughes, no matter which version of him you compare him to! >: (

Watch Code Geass in either english dub or sub. Both are pretty good actually.
