Where are you? I finished the series but I never really found him as a big asshole, the only assholish moments are imo in the first 10 episodes of the first anime, I think you will have to try to understand him, though, in order to enjoy any of the deeper stuff that's going to happen.. You can't just block a person like perhaps you do IRL? Try putting yourself in his shoes, etc. That said, I understand if you simply do not like Chiyaki - in that case, though, the show is probably not for you. Can't imagine a scenario in which you hate the MC but you like the show, anyway. Oh wait, School days.
Agreed. Part of the series is him learning to be less of an asshole. It comes from him being a perfectionist, and is a part of his personality that he never completely gets rid of, but yeah, there is more to it than just he is an annoying MC. As a pianist, I really enjoyed the series overall and found it quite inspirational at times. If only I didn't have tiny hands, I wouldn't have given up so easily on this amazing piece.
well, I can play up to like page 15 but then it just starts getting really crazy. That said, I can understand not liking MC (let's be honest though, Nodame gives him way more stress than he deserves). Anyway, I guess it really depends how far you are into the series. If you're not even halfway through season 1, keep going. If you're done with season 1, I can't imagine you liking the rest.
Persona 4 is still ongoing, but so far its been ok. Apparently its one of those anime that you enjoy more if you have already played the game, like SRW OGIN.

Aside from F/Z and Saki, nothing I'm particularly excited about.
Why does the chart have the Yamato 2199 Movie, but not the TV series? Its April as well!!!
For spring, for sure going to watch F/Z, Yamato, and Zetman. And of course Gundam Unicorn 5. Probably going to watch Ozuma too. Maybe Eureka 7, but I wasn't a fan of the original. I see IRC talking about Jourungand alot, and the description looks ok, so I'll check that one out too, even though honestly IDK what it is. Upotte looks really wtf, might give that a try so I can lol at it with Gecko.

there is a rule in life that anyone who is able to perfectly play rachmaninov pc #2 has the undeniable rights to be an asshole
Nothing like Canaan, it's about an arms dealer whose the daughter of one of the biggest arms dealing "faces" in the world, and her "bodyguard" crew as she goes around the world, slowly building toward her ulterior motive (hinted to be world peace in the first chapter). There's a lot of philosophy about weapons, people, values, etc.
If anything it's like Black Lagoon but from a different, definitively not-normal (as Rock starts out) point of view.
Jormungand seems like a nice spin on gun running, good potential for some bad assery (looks nothing like Canaan imo unless you mean in a very very broad sense)
I wonder how much of the original cast actually is in the Saki sequel (havent really looked it up).
Zombie 2, Upotte for lulz.
probably E7 Ao, Tasogare, Zetman (dont know what to expect from this. Seems Guyverish) and Ozuma.

Oh definitely. While some of the plot and other associated elements in Nodame Cantabile were a bit contrived at times, the soundtrack is good.

Hey everyone! I am by all accounts an anime noob and am hoping some of you gurus out there will be able to help me get back into the swing of things with some series suggestions. I browsed this thread for the first time today and must say 1800 pages is overwhelming to take in at once! I am looking for stuff along the lines of:
Lots of Action/Fighting (swords or guns, not so much mech) Generally enjoy tournament or war type series Not that into all female gangs (exceptions can be made I suppose) Decent quality I was a little turned off by "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" just as a reference
My favorite animes to date that I've seen are: Berzerk Ghost in the Shell Macross Plus
Thank you to anyone who responds and I hope everyone is doing great!

All the parallels to real life British historical figures are pretty awesome too.
Eh?
Ehhh?
EEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!?!?!?!?!?!??!
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHH????? If Ferrose retires from Lolicon-ism then he won't be Ferrose anymore! that's like me retiring from yuri!!!
I don't even want to be called Ferrose anymore. But I'm pretty sure that you can't change your name on TL.net without a good reason.
Also I haven't been keeping up with the current season, but I saw a couple PVs for some shows, and looking at that spring chart, what's with all these moe girl with guns/mecha animes lately (btw is that pirate anime any good?)?

Ok that is what I was hoping was going to happen. I was about halfway through episode 7 when I stopped (he was beating the shit out of Nodame for something and I was already annoyed with him so I decided to quit) so I will keep going and hope he gets better over the rest of the show. I understand that he's a perfectionist and that his past with his mentor and all that made him how he is, but he's SUCH a dick so far. Chiyaki is my least favorite character in the show by far, but I'm hoping he'll start being a little nicer and I can enjoy him more. I don't want this show to be another Prince of Tennis (seriously, there is nothing redeeming about that Tennis Prince prick).

Can't change your name at all if you are over 500 posts. Only way to not be Ferrose now is to just make a new account.
Moretsu Pirates is good. One of the better shows this season. Its kinda slower paced, but its good.

I have trouble understanding what's the definition of their form of piracy.... I mean it's not aggression without warning, people cheer when they get attacked I mean it just makes little sense to me as far as piracy goes. Still awesome show but the piracy part makes me think....
Well they are Privateers, rather than Pirates. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_of_marque http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privateer So they have historical backing for the type of pirating that they do. Like 2 episodes ago, when she went onto that passenger ship, they all treated it like a show because they are rich faggots, and it was something interesting and exotic (and maybe they thought it was just a show?), and apparently their losses were covered by the ship's insurance or something. Still haven't gotten around to the most recent episode, but I imagine they will get to more serious pirating and stuff in the future.

If you want something very quick and bloody, I'd advise you to check out Afro Samurai. Lots of violence and swordfights, and the English dub is pretty well done (Samuel Jackson playing many of the roles). It's only 6 episodes so it's definitely worth giving it a shot.

I see, well I get the part that they were insured but for some reason the privateers just seemed like a type of traveling circus for the entertainment of the rich faggots while the privateers can get something out of it of their own. It's interesting I'll keep an eye out for more of it.
