If you thought a show like Infinite Stratos was good, even if its just for the humor. Aquarion EVOL will blow your fcking mind. The jokes and the girls are so much more superior, in every way. This is a easy recommendation to all my friends who thought IS was a half-way decent show. I even thought the background and intro scenes looked familiar so I checked the studios, and the same studio did IS as well. That was a fun fact to know.
Im really enjoying this series though, I feel a good balance of school life and action (Im not one for action, but I found this refreshing). By now I kinda get where theyre going with the plot, new generations redoing the past etc. That kind of plot-setting is enough to keep me interested. And its gonna be a full 26 eps, so I can always be happy about that.
IS was primarily an 8bit show, while Aquarion is primarily a Satelight show. Aquarion looks closest to Macross Frontier, than it does to anything else. 8bit is collaborating some with the animation, but overall its a Satelight thing. Mechs definitely look Satelight, plus Kawamori's Love Polygons.
I'm glad you are enjoying Aquarion, and I agree its good, but... mfw you keep comparing Aquarion to IS: + Show Spoiler +
IS is a fake harem anime (like <insert generic harem here>, except fake), while Aquarion is a Super Robot show ala TTGL, Getter, and Mazinger.
Missing out on getting confused lol. Way tooooo deeeeeep. Inception! Still you will thoroughly enjoy another Key-esque classical soundtrack by Jun Maeda.

Lol, what else show am I supposed to compare it to? Maybe Rinne Lagrange, but since thats still currently airing I cant do a fair comparison. But I do understand that comparing something like IS to Aquarion EVOL is pretty bad. But my span of mecha knowledge is very nill.
Im very surprised that Aquarion EVOL didnt receive enough hype. I automatically put it off as a typical mecha scifi thingy. Was definitely wrong of me to do that.
And ya, the artwork and fight scenes is really eye-capturing. + Show Spoiler +
The infinite punch was fcking awesome. Love shit like that. Only other thing I saw that looked similar to that, and gave me the "holy shit" feeling was in Fairy Tail + Show Spoiler +
where they had a dragon claw extend and latch on to a floating island.
It's really tough being a neck in this series. Face melting was creepy. I am fairly sure I have an idea of who this Another is from the past couple episodes.
I think this episode made it a little clearer. It's either him or Akazawa imo. Either that or the whole hand-shake-can't-remember-shit along with him apparently being in the town before with no memory of it is a big troll, which would be mildly frustrating D:
Face melting was epic, btw. Nice to see that they dont wanna stick it to "argh bloody death so so scary" only, was getting a bit worried after last 2-3 episodes or so.
Keep it up guys, I haven't really gotten enough of a laugh yet.
In a way the anime is trolling harder than the book to compensate for shit medium for this. But why bother, I wonder. The show is running on Misaki Moe anyway.
Forgot to mention about the alien plot device part. That crazy girl sitting on Rinon turns out to have sent Ichika's ship off of Earth and maybe flying it conveniently into the Sun, stranding her forever. Explains why Rinon was scared shitless. Now she can't leave Earth, and must stay lovey-dovey couple with Kaito.

Dam it, you're getting more entertainment by watching us be trolled than the actual show. Anyway, here's my stab at the make Ecael laugh game. + Show Spoiler [Another] +
I've long since learned that these kind of shows always try to lead you to the incorrect answer. Mei, Sakakibara, and Akazawa are all alive simply because they are the most suspicous. It's probably some random side character who only gets a few lines so much so that I don't even know his/her name. Like that one girl who almost got killed by the glass pane. Another possibility is the dead person is umbrella girl. If the cause is actually dead person dying again, it would make sense why you can't do anything to stop it once it starts. So maybe you can stop it by recalling the spirit back to the classroom or something stupid like that...I hope you've had a good laugh, Ecael

Diabolical looking shit like that is always sick.
Yeah, Mugen Punch was cool. I'm glad they brought that one back from the first one. That sort of thing is common in Super Robot anime, and Mugen Punch was Aquarion's staple attack.
Aquarion EVOL doesn't get enough hype because its a sequel, and not many people watched the first one (even though its not really required). Additionally, a few guys who did watch the first one here didn't like it. But EVOL is so much better than the first season.
So, I have finally gotten around to watch Another 01-07, and I'm going to join the club of making Ecael laugh. + Show Spoiler +
When trying to figure out a complete theory for something, it is usually a good idea to make it fit every single fact in the damn thing first before posting it. Having no theory yet, I can only raise and discuss the following points.
One of the interesting things I noticed is that they made all this fuss around Mei in the first couple episodes, to make us doubt whether she exists or not, and then to reveal that she actually exists. If I wasn't careful, I would have thought that they had revealed the mystery surrounding her. However, that would be false. Even though they have explained most of the things surrounding her from episode 02-04, we still do not have an answer to what the hell she was doing in the basement of the Hospital in the very first episode. Now now, we do have some information. She did say she was visiting "her other half" and used this expression again in 07 to talk about what I think to be her stillborn sibling (can't quite remember), but that doesn't really explain what she was doing down there. An explanation for this behaviour will come eventually though, and it may or may not be a key to solving the mystery. In the meantime, Mei is still suspicious.
The second detail I want to discuss is the handshake bullshit. While I would certainly like to think that this is just a troll, this kind of thing is rarely a troll. The easiest explanation is that she's actually his dead mother and that creates the mysterious "connection" between him and her. This would fit many things. Indeed, there is a huge fuss surrounding his mother's death and anybody in his right mind would believe that this is not over and is going to play a role quite soon. One thing that I'm wondering is if people that knew the dead person would recognize him/her. That seems unlikely though, because it would have happened in the past. Though this explanation is certainly easy, and while I do not see any direct contradiction to it, this explanation is just not satisfying enough : it does not connect to Mei in any way, does not provide an explanation for the above paragraph, and it is just too obvious. So far, this show has been ahead of us every single episode (either by making us doubt of Mei's existence before the main character, making us believe of Mei's existence before it's proven or making us suspect the main character before this possibility is raised by himself). I would not be surprised if this is just another one of those.
I personally believe that the main character's father is legit and not lying about anything. This is because he's far away from the city and thus should stay unaffected by the curse. Then, assuming this, his conversation with the main character regarding his last coming to the city probably foreshadows more information that we will obtain later. To contribute even more to this, Akazawa mentioned that this is similar to what happened 2 years ago. This is just more foreshadowing. We can certainly expect more information about this eventually. Though, if the main character had any implication with these events, it could possibly explain the handshake bullshit. Of course, this is just some bad theorycrafting based on 2 small details, but considering how everyone's memory is easily affected, this is still a plausible model, which has enough freedom to include everything surrounding Mei in it.
My guess for this week : Mei is the dead person. I'm looking forward to being wrong I hope you've had a good laugh, Ecael.

The talk of Air makes me want to ask anyone who played the VN if everything was actually explained there, cause idk anyone who saw the anime and understood everything that happened. It was obviously pretty rushed, still beautiful like other Key stuff.
Also if i liked Nichijou should i watch Nichibros? I'm guessing so and it's one of the more popular airing shows atm.

It has been a while but iirc everything was explained a bit better. Though the early Key games have never been about knowing what exactly is happening as they are about drawing in the raw emotions from the turn of events. So yeah in that respect I thought Air was done pretty well anime wise.

Well the way most of these work is that you have a lot of false leads to work with. Like people in the irc can attest to how I was going over years and names as I was reading it to try to piece together something. There is a decisive difference to how the anime and the book works in this regard though.
The book presents to you most of the system pretty quickly, leaving out a few small details here and there but nothing that you can't guess then make the horror work w/ suspense. The anime though tries to be clever w/ omitting information, keep you in the dark and do random revelations that make people go ooh. It also drops small hints that might or might not have anything to do with the plot randomly just so that it can troll you a few episodes later by refuting it or affirming a really weak link. That's why I am just really amused seeing you people try to tackle the situation with information designed to troll you by trying to outmeta the troll information.
I don't know why people aren't trying to use the things that obviously connect to each other though, is it something to do with trying to outtroll the troll show information?

Thanks for the laugh, let me read it over so I can respond if necessary.
I liked your lines because I actually worked off some of them when I was reading. Though I am a bit more amused at how you end up with these because of the way anime brushes off a lot of information.
In regards to memory though, the only thing affirmed about the system is that it does not kill outside of the township, but nothing has been tested or proven in regards to every other detail.
I don't know why people aren't trying to use the things that obviously connect to each other though, is it something to do with trying to outtroll the troll show information?
But that would be too obvious for it to work. Trying to go for the obvious has never really resulted in being right in these kinds of shows t_t

Well considering it from my point of view. On one hand I see people trying to work out stuff legitimately. On the other hand I see people messing up by trying to outsmart bad information.
Ecael is just making things even more confusing now T_T. I think I'll just trust myself; if I try to get some information by reading Ecael's posts, it just spirals in an horrible, horrible mess. Better make him laugh anyway.

That is until people voluntarily spoil themselves, then I headdesk.

I can't even really factcheck because the anime likes to omit random parts to information revealed at that point in the book. Did I mention how I hate PA Works for how they are handling this?
When the show is over I think I'll make a list of some of the false leads given and why I liked them. With show/books like this, it is usually more interesting to look at how and what made the misleading information tick rather than look at the mystery itself.

Its detective, not sure if this is the type you want though. I have this bookmarked to play when I have time during spring break. This song is what sold me:

If you mean actual detective interaction ala Phoenix Wright, the only other one I can think of is Caucasus (same company), but it was a pretty bad one, especially considering that there's like no way in hell you can beat the game without a walkthrough - I tend to give KnS a 100/100 because its execution of the theme it kept hammering into you is unbelievable, but Caucasus was just hilariously bad. I actually streamed that and we had some great lulz, but yeah.
What was the first one... I keep thinking of the OP song's title... Carthagra? doesn't have the detective interaction elements as it was a straight VN, but that's a prequel to KnS and might tickle your fancy (no idea if either of those two are translated though).
Otherwise yeah, detective stuff isn't touched much in VNs. Phoenix Wright stuff would be your best bet.
Edit: Sharnoth is as detective as Code Geass. ie. It's not. It's basically Count of Monte Cristo.
