Dude.... holy shit whitebeard is powerful. I think he's gonna die though, the manga seems to be leaning in that direction. Maybe Ace will become the new commander of the whitebeard pirates?

Whitebeard looks like he's gonna die, but Marcoh and the other commanders have been shown to be so badass that i doubt that they could really die right now. I'd say that the war is going to end rather lamely, or with luffy doing something so epic that the fighting would just stop.

Das Bones helping Luffy ? o.o Oh yeah, Garp vs. Luffy showdown... that is going to be awesome. And Whitebeard is still not falling down, he is truly a monster. It's good that the holidays are over, because the breaks have been so long.. now every week new chapter (hopefully) yeah !

One thing that I've been really confused about is power rankings. I know this isn't dbz or anything but some characters I cannot seem to understand. Take for example crocodile: He was defeated by Luffy without the use of gears and thus is technically weaker now. However, he apparently fought with Whitebeard before (even though he was defeated he still lived) and he was able to stop Mihawk + Doflamingo. Mihawk is shown to be roughly on par with an admiral because of his insane power shown when he attacked Jozu and has said to of dueled with a two-armed Shanks who is now a Yonku. Doflamingo is also seen slicing the leg of Oars Jr. cleanly off and is shown to completely dominate Water Buffalo (13 devision captain I think), so he is also quite powerful. Judging from this crocodile should have the strength of an admiral yet he is walked all over by luffy who gets completely owned by admirals.
Other cases of this are Moria, Ivankof, and pacifistas. There are also probably much more.

One Piece doesn't have power rankings. But in terms of combat ability, Crocodile was probably the 2nd most powerful person Luffy has defeated, after Enel. Crocodile nearly killed Luffy, and Luffy won because he was able to get himself wet in with his own blood. You can't really say "since Person X beat Person Y, Person X is stronger than Person Y". Greats example of this would be anyone who Nami or Usopp have ever beaten. But thinking of this stuff in terms of power levels would kinda of ruin One Piece, and degenerate it to the level of like DBZ or Bleach.

I really am looking forward to how this arc progresses and concludes. We might have an epic Luffy vs Garp fight, but if Luffy does manager to beat Garp, I wonder if he would still be in a condition to save Ace? I mean, Sengoku can apparently fight, and the Admirals are still around, and Luffy is already on his last legs before this fight even gets started.

Having definite "power levels" ruin practically anime/manga. Think of it as something like how movie was able to take a game from JD by doing a dragoon push, would he have won if he played standard? Probably not.

Yeah, as stated above, there are no definitive power "levels" in One Piece. Rather, it depends more on weaknesses and situations. For example, Luffy beating Enel. Oda said in some fact book I believe that if Enel was given a bounty it would be like 500 million. So basically Enel is the baddest ass bad guy there is (minus the Yonku maybe) yet Luffy was able to beat him pre-gears because rubber>lightning. However, without a clearly defined weakness (rubber for Enel, water for Croc), Luffy struggles against Logia types, hence why he gets owned by the Admirals, but does better against physical types (All the early battles, Rob Lucci, and Moria/Oz who is basically a physical fighter despite his powers).

I don't think we'll see a real Luffy vs Garp or Luffy vs Sengoku at this time. Luffy isn't really in any shape to fight and until he masters the use of Haki, I don't think he'll be knocking off any of the marine elite yet. Something will happen. I don't know what, but Oda rarely disappoints.

I think Luffy vs Garp is more feasible than like Luffy vs an Admiral. I mean, Luffy can actually hit Garp. I also can't imagine this arc ending without Luffy defeating someone important.

Storr, you are in Alabasta in the Anime. We are talking about recent stuff in the Manga, which will probably translate to like episode 460ish at least in the anime lol

It used to be very good in anime many many years back, but after it caught up with manga, the quality just dropped and fillers are everywhere. Basically its the same for all long running manga's with animes.

Out of 130 episodes I watched - all of the important story could be told in 30 episodes , the rest were filler useless stories that didn`t add to the plot in any significant way, sometimes except its conclusion ( like with renifer dude )

The ridicilousness of the fights - Sanji/Luffy vs Mermens, Luffy vs Crocodile etc .... these events didn`t have any life in themselves , whatever happened did not have any meaning because plot changed it anyways - a character could literally die - screw that he`ll stand up like nothing happened and continue to own - and this happens not once or two times - it stands like the core behind all stories in One Piece

Naruto has similar flaws to some degree but significantly less . I don`t see how One Piece is better than Naruto from this point of view.

Unless you like idealistic stories where plot is the puppetmaster behind everything, leaving all stuff meaningless.... and it isn`t even hidden in any way.

rereading this, some seriously epic stuff. I'd have to say that Oda does some seriously fantastic badass artwork. Wish the story would progress faster though, I dislike how long its taking for this arc to finish. I swear I'm going to finish grad school before this series finishes (senior in high school btw).

While I initially thought that this arc was exciting, it seems to have dragged on past its lifespan. The same thing happened with Bleach: it's this gigantic battle between all the arrancars and then the Gotei 13, but it actually turns out to be a huge bore. At some point you just wish there was some plot movement.
