Well, if his nickname "Joker" is actually a reference to the Joker in Batman then I guess he's doing his thing because he enjoys it. The way his character is shown to be, would you really see him as someone who just sits at home and takes what's given to him?
I remember at Marineford where he suddenly got all excited about the idea of the winner determining justice. He seems like someone who just enjoys the madness and doesn't really pick either side. As a member of the royal family I guess he'd have had to step in line and behave. Maybe that's why he left and threw himself into the chaotic, adventurous life of piracy. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
Oh, didn't he also say that he'd quit the Shichibukai if he ever got bored of it? I think that's what it's really about with him. Some men just want to watch the world burn - was said about the Joker in Batman. Coincidence?!

the Tenryuubito seem like the sort of people whod kill someone who did that so as to not ruin the image
i think that his family got exiled some time ago, and hes the only one who managed to survive (kinda like Ace) and then he gathered power as a Pirate and now is strong enough to blackmail the WG with his past to get special priveleges as long as he keeps quiet

His Point about justice was actually a reply to Akainu talking about how justice (marines in his world) will always prevail. he replied this quote:
"Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!"
This shows how Doflamingo doesnt believe in the concepts of good and evil, and seems to lean more thowards chaos. Like the Joker in TDK (or the killing joke) indeed. Remember the interrogatin scene when he calls out batman for being a freak who dreses up in a bat suit and points out that to the citizens, he is just as much of a "Freak" as the Joker. Quote:

No, that contradicts what been said multiple times about the Old Kings and founders of the WG being the ancestors to all the Tenryuubito. Also they stand above all Laws so they cant be punished/exiled.
If Doflamingos Family was exiled, then that means we still have no clue how he pulled all of those WG strings or has connections above the fleet admiral. the explanation posted above doesnt hold up, as they could just dispose of him by sending the admirals (and garp :D) after him to get rid of him. I dont think one man can blackmail the entire WG that way.
And what Image does the Tenryuubuto really have anyways? what Charloss did in SA is on par with DF, if not worse. What commoners think about them (fear and hatered i would assume) dont mean a thing to them, they will just kill anyone who openly shows a lack of respect for them and call for an admiral if someone is even daring to threaten with violence. The Tenryuubito already commit murder and slave trade on a regular basis so you kinda have to wonder what they would have to do to get exiled...
I think he simply took dressrosa because of his family history, making it a good base in the new world to conduct his underworld business. if he wasnt king of dressrosa he would have nowhere to build his Smile factory.
the question is why he turned Rikus/Opposition into toys instead of just killing them and ending their linage forever. And how did DD aquire a bounty of 340mil in the first place when his nobility gives him legal immunity? maybe he printed his own bounty with a fake newspaper article to get his warlord positition and earn respect as a pirate, that could be a theory.

Or his identity is just unknown to most. I don't think it's outrageous to think that DD could run away (as a child even) and keep his identity hidden from all but a select few. The people who make the bounties probably don't even know he's a noble. He obviously doesn't care about it so why tell them? He probably found it amusing as his bounty increased, making him "more dangerous" to the very world government he is a part of.

I wonder if the dragons have any actual power in terms of strength. I mean some of the higher ranking marines seem to be the types that would be disgusted with the behavior of the dragons and they were powerful people. I'm surprised there hasn't been an attempt to dispose of those gluttonous fools at some point considering they are basically like the royals of old who really only care about themselves. Surely there have been high ranking and powerful people within the marine/WG system who have questioned why they give a shit about these people at all.

plus hes useful as long as he keeps his mouth shut so there being careful, they may have a plan to dispose of him when needed but for now theres no reason to

id say this supports my theory, noone knew Dofla was a tenryuubito until he was already a powerful pirate and then pulled his family tree on the WG and started blackmailing them

they dont, but Dofla managed to take over a country by force using only his 3 seat dude so between the CPs and the admirals theyd be able to make it clear that the Tenryuubito must not be touched

Yeah I figured it was common knowledge that he was related to the tenryuubito after the chapter where Vergo warned Law that he didn't know the truth about Dofla's past. Some people even thought he was related to the Goresei or however you spell it.

The Joker won because turning dent into a madman was his "Ace card". The Boats was a distraction tp allow dent to run rampart. rewatch the movie  he proved that even someone as good as Dent could become a murderous psychopath once his chips went down. Joker just had to kill his girlfriend.
I like your theories though and especially the part about DD being a potential anti-hero, (like crocodile almost turned into) and Kuzan seems to be turning into aswell.
I wonder how DDs relationship witht he WG really looks like though? on the other hand he seems to just abuse his position to his advantage, but on the other hand they have asked him for favors in the past (moria. why go to him instead of using their robot slave kuma who is 100% loyal and wont ask for anything in return and cannot speak so will not leak it?)
Maybe they like having a Tenryuubito "Infiltrating" the Pirate world, believing his heart will always be loyal to mareijos in the end?
