...So Lucky Roo would just be a ripped-off version of Guido from DBZ. Sounds unlikely.

Also this whole line of thought is just funny, I like the thought of Kaido's crew desperately trawling the ocean trying to find their suicidal boss. I wonder if Kaido's fruit grants a form of invulnerability fishing?
Probably less fishing and more like trawling, but it's just as funny to imagine snagging Kaido by the lip on a fishing pole and hauling his gargantuan ass up through the water

but in all serious we already know the technology exists to turn any ship into a submersible

But Oda loves dragon ball, hmm...

I always figured he'd be one of the strongest because he's the main character's idol that needs to be surpassed.

Nothing we've heard about Shanks indicates he's the weakest. He stopped Kaido from attacking Whitebeard, he stopped the Marineford War, Blackbeard considered him too strong to take on. Plus he has what appears to be by far the smallest crew of the Yonkou, meaning that they must be extremely strong to be considered as powerful and influential as a freaking empire.
Oda is the type of writer who pays attention to that kind of detail.

yeah shanks to whitebeard seemt like what whitebeard was to gold roger, two pirates above the rest. now with whitebeard gone i would say shanks is probably the 'strongest' yonkou, especially given the crew size, lack of devil fruit, haki etc
|
For me Shanks is the strongest and overall if crew seems "pound for pound" stronger.. they have a small crew but full of heavy hitters..
In my opinion when Kaidou tries to skill himself "chance" ends up saving him.. for instance when we jumped 10km from the top of a cloud he could have hit the sea but he didn't.. lets say he would jump from a boat, i think like he would be "saved" by a giant see king or a whale, something like that.. chance and luck prevents him from dying
I don't know if Cracker is down but i don't think he is in the same level as DD

Rating DD's strength is imo really hard since his crew was very weak.

About who the strongest Youkou is... As far as who is induvidually the strongest, we already know. Oda himself pretty much told us via narration when he was introduced. It outright called Kaidou the "strongest creature in the world", in a similar manner in which Whitebeard was called the strongest man alive.
|
I think Kaido was the "strongest" in the sense of the most durable. I mean, he's been captured/beaten etc, several times he just can't die. Whitebeard was the strongest in the sense of most destructive power. Right now who has the greatest fighting power is up to debate imo.

Shanks and his posse seem like the new kids on the block. Last time we saw him was 10 years ago when he was a relatively unknown pirate. The other Yonku have some crazy spheres of influence/infrastructure. I mean Big mom has her own archipelago with cities and trade and a crazy defense system. That kind of influence takes time to build. I highly doubt that Shanks rules over 30-something islands and has a standing army. He seems more of a really powerful freelancer type instead of a legitimate emperor.

My thoughts on the yonko, excluding Blackbeard because he is a new addition and kinda of a wild card right now.
1 v 1 strength = Kaido wins Crew strength = Shanks wins Influence and connections = Big Mom wins.
If Shank's crew were to fight Big Mom and her commanders I feel like it would be just a straight stomp, now if he tried to attack her entire country, with all her allies there it would be a different story.
If Kaido fought Shanks 1 v 1 judging by what was said in Kaido's introduction he would beat Shanks, but again crew vs crew it seems like Shanks wins.
They are all extremely powerful, just in different ways which makes rating them with limited information near impossible. It would all come down to the situation and circumstances around the battle to decide the winner imo. Of course, this is all pure speculation, just how I kinda see things.

as the narrator himself said "in one on one bet on kaido"
Kaido is the strongest character so far.

|
Shanks doesn't seem the type to gain territory or large numbers of followers. He is the Luffy of the Emperors except replace meat with booze.
|
Yes Shanks is not interested in "politics" and "power".. he just wants to be free, protect his friends and allies and enjoy the good life!
He also probably went to Raftel, so he probably knows he is not the "one" that needs to go there

There's a reason why Roger gave his hat to shanks. The two are very similar they share the same ideals

shanks is already a yonko (many) years before he met luffy, just because we were not informed back then doesn't mean he was an unknown pirate, for someone who fought mihawk many times though, i dont think he is all that unknown by people in OP world. I mean obviously Oda didn't have all these yonko setting etc back then lol, thats also why redhair losing his arm wa/is such a controversial topic

As a random thought, I hope Big Mom has an underling who controls a golem made of biscuit. That would really fit the theme.
