Where the hell is the plot going? What is the motivation besides take-over, what are the villian's goals and dreams? Hell, what does the hero hope to accomplish? I don't even know what Chad and Orihime are for. And nothing solves problems like Getsuga Tensho... does Ichigo even have any other moves than a vertical slash and really good lung capacity? I wonder what his meetings with his editor(s) is/are like... Give me my childhood back, when I thought Bleach was the coolest thing to grace anime =_= I'm trying to pinpoint where the problems started...is it the shunpo that allows everyone to float in mid-air? This isn't Touhou or Suguri you know... moves become irrelevant once you start flying, especially with swords or cqc weapons. Everything turns into flying air projectiles. Is it the introduction of too many characters and not having them important to the plot in any way? Is it because he didn't plan on the series being this...yea that one is vital scratch that thought, of course its this one. Is it because the main characters have the complexity and growth of Mario?... And hell they don't even have shrooms to grow physically. What ties their group together, hell even Naruto has bonds and shit, and has a somewhat moral to the whole thing, and Naruto actually had a damn dream. What does Ichigo have, besides an overly large sword that becomes small and large again, and then splits into two, and then um... Ah hell, I said I only post when my brain works, that's my sig, but Bleach logic is going to drive me to drink....grumbles and goes to get a drink* | ||

I was also dwelling on the question of why and when bleach (and other manga i.e. Naruto) start sucking so fucking bad. I think reaper9 mentions most of the important points. For me the fighting and the drawing of said fights stand out the most. Bleach had similar things although it was always a bit more about random power ups (Sword/yhwach/hollow based). Random power ups, Overpowered skills, and spirit bomb type fights is actually why i stopped reading a lot of main stream manga. I'm glad someone mentioned Boku no Hero Academia. That manga is so fun actually. Good character development. Mostly understandable powers with cool interactions and creative ways of using them. I hope some more new mangas like this will show up now that naruto is done and Bleach is total shit. | ||

I remember with Naruto it was so cool when it was still about using your (unique) powers in a creative way to beat your enemy. implying it ever really stopped being that? | ||
