Be it interpreted as a lost/abandoned form or an entirely new one, I don't see why it can't be and/or isn't mainstream. Because popular fiction, in its 150ish year existence, has never adopted the conventions of serious literature. GoT is trying harder to be serious literature than most of its competitors. Not super-hard, mind you, but enough I give them serious points for effort. On June 04 2013 18:57 NVRLand wrote: So, who do you guys think will be the new Robb? I believe that George R.R. I've heard from i think Neddard Stark that he was the best swordsman in the land, as well as (i think) the Flower knight. Does anyone know if this is true? How ungodly is he with a sword? Is he just prodigal in his technique and a complete boss? I would like to think so... I thought so, but for some reason he didn't count as among the 3 best fighters under Dany. Definitely have to disagree that Ned wasn't considered a top class swordsman. Didn't they literally say it in the show that he was.

I cant for the life of me remember where it was ever even hinted that the hound is one of the best swordsmen in westeros.

Ned is a great leader, but he never was great in the art of swordsmanship. He is good, but not top 3 good.

. Seeing as she has the most dignity and has righteousness on her side. Stannis is okay as a second choice, I feel he has some degree of conscience and isn't nearly as vindictive or cruel as Joffrey/Bolton, and also has a reasonable chance of mounting a conquest. Tyrells seem to be well placed but I can't tell if they are going to just join the Lannisters or attempt to murder them all. I really hope it's the latter (minus Tyrion ofc).

I'd definitely wager Jaime thought Ned was someone who could beat him. But that's just speculation really and we will never know.

Sure, hes competent, but I'm thinking Jaime was betting the odds were quite stacked in his favour. Drunk atm so i hope you get me.This was just Jaime top3. Not the end all be all top3. I feel like the leeches thing is fairly legit since that stannis's redhead and the guy who apparently has infinite lives have shown lord of light doesn't fuck around. After rewatching Ep 8 I realized that Robb's name was the first called, followed by Greyjoy and then followed by Joffrey. So IMO in the next episode (or possible the next few episodes), we'll see Greyjoy die. Possibly at the hands of Theon himself if he ever gets out of being endlessly tortured (which itself surely has to happen soon, I mean, he's got a lot of screen time this year and ALL of it has just been him getting tortured, lol). But the bigger thing is the massive lead up to Joffrey, which IMO everything in ep 8 and now ep 9 leads up to him getting his weiner cut off. 1) The third leech was placed on the bastard son's penis, it was the third leech in which joffrey's name was called. 2) Tyrion's words were something like "If you make us perform the bedding ceremony you'll be fucking your own wife with a wooden cock" when Joffrey was being a little dick at their wedding, again foreshadowing a penis-snipped Joffrey 3) Once news of what happened at the red wedding reaches King's landing, Sansa is going to absolutely lose it. She already considered killing Joff in season 1 after Joffrey forced her to look at her dads head on that weird little bridge thing, only thing that really stopped her was clegane grabbing her to stop her. More or less her one hope lied with Robb and his army saving her from king's landing, she now has practically no hope of getting out of King's Landing and absolutely nothing to live for but revenge (as like most others, I assume she thinks at this point every one of her family members but her bastard brother she was probably not very close to are dead.) 4) Joffrey in ep 8 threatened to rape Sansa even before Tyrions out burst towards him at the wedding. Given his sadistic nature I wouldn't put it past him to want to rape a girl who has just been put through the emotional agony of finding out her entirely family has been wiped out... Giving Sansa the perfect dick-snippin' opportunity. 5) It would be a perfect pick-me-up after the absolutely devastation to viewers that was s03e09... I feel like something has to happen, and very soon, to show the bad guys are just as fragile as the 'good guys'... I mean the last 'satisfying' death was viserys in season 1, lol. Hilariously tho, this will undoubtedly end up with Sansa being killed herself as well and we will lose yet another stark... Thoughts?

In any case whatever happens I dont think it will be explicitly supernatural given robbs death was hardly bizarre or anything. edit: As to joffrey raping or killing sansa. Something about his psychology tells me he wouldnt do such a thing. I think the aspect of rape would be scary to HIM, even though he likes the idea of scaring others with the threat. And I'm not sure he would kill someone for a similar reason, that he knew, anyway. Ros was just kind of 'a girl', but Sansa is a known person. I dont know, but while Joffrey is clearly a sadist he doesnt seem confident enough in his own...psychopathy, for lack of a better word, to abuse in a really intimate sense, a person who he knows. Hell even Ros he just shot w arrows, he even killed her with an arrow shot to the heart. Not really a 'get your hands dirty' kind of guy.
