I got the books and just started on the first one myself, almost done with it and although itll be a while before im onto the 3rd book it really seems like it will be worth reading ACOK. Theres simply more to the story in the books and a lot more insight into things.

That seems possible. Yara tells Theon to leave. He doesn't want to. Yara plays a prank on him by pretending to have surrounded the castle. After the 20 guys walk out of Winterfell to surrender. Yara takes Theon back home and burns down Winterfell before they leave. Alternative: Winterfell was actually surrounded. Yara decided to go back and help out Theon. A supprise attack at night would kill quite a lot of soldiers. Same ending.

Nah remember how Theon even says something along the lines of "I don't need the hornblower telling me I'm surrounded, I went out there and looked, saw it for myself!"

I cannot say the same for season 2. If you start at book 3 you will be very confused. I suggest starting from book 1, it is not that long of a read.

Well, pretty sure not because he changes face but probably not his whole shape? And syrio was famous, Jorquen... hmmm not... And jorquen came from the jail of king's landing or something to be in the prison cart when he was going to the wall with Yoren. anyway, I'm starting to be intruigued by this Bravos as the 2 person from there have been awesome.

Besides you will miss a lot of the storyline if you go directly into book 3, even if you watched all series so far.

You get so much more out of it. I'm halfway through the first book, and you get to know the characters on a whole new level. I've actually started liking Dany, who through the TV series was one of the characters I liked the least. You will not regret reading the entire series, I can promise you that.
