The Northern soldiers were just sieging the castle - we kind of assume that "Theon's men" sack Winterfell before finding a way out and escaping.

The men outside of Winterfell were under Ramsay (the Bastard of Bolton), they just didn't cast him for this season. Remember a few episodes back, Roose Bolton told Robb that he would send his son to take back Winterfell. We haven't met him yet.

well season 1 ending was better

I dunno, but I think it will involve horses and swords and games and thrones.

So everyt law of making movies/tv-shows doesn't matter, because you've got a 75% certainty that the broadcast of the next season will be during the shooting of the scenes?

I like how they did the Others. It made me shudder when the Other on the undead horse stared down at Samwell Tarly.

Yeah, the ending to season 1 is kind of hard to beat. Danaerys's storyline didn't even seem relevant until that very last moment, when you realize she just went from losing absolutely everything, to being the most powerful woman in the world. That episode makes you fucking hyped for the dragons.
Then season two rolls along and she plays politics in Qarth for nine episodes. The one scene where we see the dragons actually doing something (when they burn the warlock) was kind of fucking stupid.
I think they did her 'visions' well, though. The Iron Throne scene was just so ambient and foreboding. Highlight of the episode, next to Jaqen, for me.

Because the show writers didn't cover this event very well... since we're not about to talk about the books I can't say anything more on the issue, but basically I feel like the writers botched up a bunch of stuff in the story that could have been prevented had they only followed the books.

Confusing bits:
- Dany has all her dothraki people back again? Why didn't they show up with her on the trip to the warlock tower? - Where is the Hound? More than wondering about Bronn, I thought it was somewhat implied that Sansa was going to make a run out with the Hound no? - Who razed Winterfell? If Robb's man's bastard was retaking it, why would it be burning - if Theon's men burnt it after knocking him out, how could they take the 'leave with your life' deal?
Other than that, it was a great episode.

I had no idea the actress who played Cersei is the same lady from 300. I was wiki'ing her info and I almost shat my pants when I saw she played Sarah Connor from the Terminator series but it turns out it was just for the spin-off TV series Terminator only

I remember that episode, just wondering if they were outside the castle, how did they let it get sacked and let the greyjoys escape.

Last episode was good but it was 70 minutes of nothing happening till the end truly.
I know I know, lots of stuff happened. But it was just a "tie up the loose ends" kind of episode with nothing really moving the plot forward other than the very end.
I loved it regardless, but I wish this was a second-to-last episode with another one to flesh everything out more. Ending gave me goosebumps though, truly pysched for next season.

Ah thanks, I will have to read the books then.

Other than that, it was a great episode. Well I don't know if the group looting where all that many. She did show up to Qarth with a handful people, but hardly saw them this season. The Hound presumably left based on his plans on the previous episode, but there really was no mention of him that I caught. I thought the last episode perhaps left it hanging, but Sansa was rather adamant about staying.
Presumably, Theon's men burned it, but they didn't explain how they left. Perhaps they used the tunnels? But it wasn't very well explained. Particularly as there was a besieging force there as well, so did Bran and co walk invisibly through the sieging force which you would have thought would've occupied Winterfell by now. So then why would Bran leave if Winterfell was secured? Did the entire besieging force race off after Theon's men to leave Winterfell defenceless again? That part made no sense to me at all.

From Episode (not book) + Show Spoiler +Did anyone find the whole dragon and danyrs telling it to light him on fire insanely cheesy? I burst out laughing, it was like something out of a really cheap 80s horror movie.

Or possibly General Maximus of Gladiator. Very funny ending to the speech. Getting all pumped to go to war and then...

Yeah, I totally remember Roose mentioning his bastard son, but I'm really confused as to how he will be put back into the story if Winterfell is already sacked. He's such an important character. I trust the writers, but he needs to be in it!

Enjoyed everything except Dany's part (though she seems a bit more badass now), and how Winterfell was sacked but not explained how or why.

pretty amazing finale. so many epic things..the shimmering whitewalker with his sword of ice and undead horse, the sheer numbers of the wights. the dragonfire.. the 2 house of the undying visions with the either icy/snowing throneroom or ashen (combined with destroyed roof)..either gives me chills. then the scene with Drogo..didn't think we'd see him again. eyes got pretty watery there. jaqen and arya was basically perfect, though maybe they could have explained what Valar Morghulis.
I hope the non-readers did not misunderstand the fight between Qhorin Halfhand and Jon.. if you were paying attention to the "previously on game of thrones" or remember episode 8 well, qhorin does tell jon how he should "join" the wildlings so the Watch could have a man on the inside, and that killing Qhorin would be the only way to gain their trust. That scene should have been a lot better.
Brienne and Jaime's scene was so great. Their dialogue is perfect and the actors are both doing phenomenal jobs with their roles.. her fury as she stabs the northman through the crotch as she yells "Two quick deaths?!".. wow!
I even enjoyed Ros's scene for once, though a large part was just Varys's scenes are always great. That look on her face after she grabs for Varys' junk as she realizes that she has no power over him..perfect.
Tywin tries to make a grand entrance..but cannot control everything as his horse from shitting all over the throne room's entrance heh.
