Lightbringer was forged in a specific legendary way through blood magic and sacrifice whereas Valyrian steel is just a bunch of old metal from Valyria that nobody knows how to make anymore and might involve magic/dragons/rituals/blood but doesn't imbue any magical powers beyond "-20% to STR requirements to wield", "+50% durability", "+50% damage against undead" and "immune to shatter". | ||

Not useful magic, necessarily, because flaming swords don't do very much (unless you're pyrophobic like Sandor), but magic nonetheless. | ||

Of course. But in a world of half remembered magic, legends and massive walls that defend against forgotten things, I bet a cheap trick wasn’t created just to show off. Maybe that is what people use it for not, but maybe someone really needed a flaming sword a long time ago. | ||

My prediction is that we find out that the White Walkers are a lot like humans when it comes to their reasons to go to war. That the Night King is just a ruler that decided to take them to war for political reasons. Weird undead ice man political reasons, but political reasons. I would need to check again, but are we sure that the White Walkers are immortal? They steal babies, so I assume they have to age or grow up. Unless they are raising those babies to full grown people and then turning them. | ||

I totally forgot about that scene. That makes sense and I bet they age too. My bet is that those sense in the trailer with John in the north are him seeking out more information on the Walkers. | ||
