A few weeks ago I saw an interesting manhwa on batoto.

Not sure how that's really a criticism when there is no published work that comes out faster than weekly. Sure it sucks since the series is pretty new but it would kind of suck for him to be a bad ass Gary Stu 5 chapters out of the gate.

Pretty sure most series, main character still looks cool despite being weak. Ofc he's not gonna get be super strong right off the bat, but he could get something cooler than rip.

I really did enjoy this cartoon! Can someone give a list of decent "gaming" mangas/manhwas?
Im not an expert so my list is as short as this:
Btooom! ( Student has to play death match with bombs in an island, lowmecha-theme)
Liar Game ( Young woman has to play a game of smarts or carry a huge debt, somewhat realistic )

Liar game isn't about videogaming (more psychological games of luck/skill) but it's really good and a worth a read

DICE is pretty dark and psychological with people actually ending up dead. And it's bound to get messy since + Show Spoiler +lots of people got their hands on a dice and it feels the same when Kira in Death Note had a copy cat.

This has the potential to be great. I hope the author ends up making it as awesome as it can be. I really hope they don't just skip to him being overpowered. I'm loving him learning all these abilities and hope to see him make use of a ton of things to help himself level up. He could become a super-versatile character, learning pretty much everything under the sun. That would be great fun.
Also I hope he learns tons of passive skills. Those are the most interesting ones he's been learning so far (beyond probably learning HP/MP regen zones which could be awesome for training as people on batoto have pointed out).
Damn this manga is making me excited, I really hope the author doesn't mess it up. He's been awesome so far at ending skills and facts to things I wouldn't have though about though.

And if his friends all are stronger than him, his thick skin will go up real fast.

What I mean is that I'd rather he get OP through training than some other ancient hidden power or what have you, that he has awakened.

Not leveling up is quite normal in a lot of RPGs, usually in case you find a weapon or ability with skill requiremens so you can use it right away.

Thats actually kind of weird. I don't remember any old fashion rpg without it. It covers both how your enemies and friends see you(usually part of a leadership system as well as diplomacy and intimidation), as well as certain spells depending on your type. Not to mention the obvious perks in trading.

Luck and Charisma often end up filling the same slot in RPGs in terms of that "X factor" that influences extra things like the interactions you mentioned. As this seems like it will mostly be a combat series (with some humor) I can see how the author would take the nod towards Luck since it opens up avenues like critical hits and finding rare items (if he chooses to level it that is). Charisma-based diplomacy could have been an interesting route to resolve issues/gain allies but somehow I don't think villains like the summoner would be that easily persuaded.

I'm thinking about it a lot but except for Pokemon and the first Shin Megami Tensei (for a mother) and FF-X (for the father), I'm running out of parents very quickly in those J-RPG. I can find a little bit more (Seiken Densetsu 3, Chrono Trigger), especially if I search for those only mentioned.
Edit: Dads are more likely to be mentioned than moms by the way, since it seems japanese often let the woman just be a presence in the kitchen of the first house in the game and then you never see her again.

LUK (Luck) is more of a JRPG thing, and Charisma is more of a D&D-type Western RPG thing imo. I personally prefer Charisma too, but eh :D

This manhwa is pretty amazing actually. I literally laughed out loud at that last page this chapter.
The premise is really interesting. Also Starcraft and LoL references \o/

I know he has no shame making all the culture references he wants anytime, it's fun. I really want to see what will happen with the party mechanic and if he will spam mana blast by hitting each zombie once and getting his friend to kill them in order to level up his skill and levels.

I just start reading it by pure chance, by clicking in my mangareader on suprise me. I really like it. Its just unique, nobody made a shounen in this way. its just refeshing light and the jokes are quite plain, but never seem to be forced.

With all the mentions of dying in one hit even with his Gamer ability I think some kind of Resurrection function is more likely (possibly at his mom's house if she actually turns out to be a GM or w.e). Also pretty funny how his move went from a kamehameha to a Rasengan...

This is one of the most epic manhwa's I've read! Must say its on par to the likes of Noblesse to me :D . I love how the author questions every new discovery made so that we readers don't have to guess (unlike Bleach) and no plot loopholes so far (again unlike Bleach) :D

I approve of his fighting style. Multiple spinning mana arrows sure do look cool. Reminds me of the old Gundam robot Freedom with all the missiles coming out.

love this manhwa. So laid back and the pictures are simple which is nice to see. The story is also starting to get even more interesting and nice to see the main character use his head instead of just strength for a change lol. I wonder just how much stuff he can do. Anyone else hoping that he would click on graphics or sound to see what they have for options? lol.

I always thought it was pretty slow before. The author spent a lot of time explaining RPG mechanics without any real plot development.

Tower of God is easy imo, mainly because there aren't many typical Korean names. I just find them hard to remember. Names in Kubera are super easy to remember although I feel like dropping it, it's too much tragedy for me.
Generally, I find myself having an easier time remembering names of manga characters than manhwa ._.

But a lot of the time people will rip each other off. When some scanlators/translators find out that some other guys are ripping off their product (which they are providing for free with only ad revenue as income btw), then they might start holding back their material in order to confirm their suspicion as well as gain attention to the problem.
edit: After searching around on different forums and their own site for a while, I can't find any information about this. According to their own schedule thingie they're nearly about done with the next chapter. So I have no idea what Beany is on about.

They give info that they have no reason to know unless they are the scanlators, which they claim not to be, and that can't be verified anywhere on the internet. They also claimed "final stages" on tuesday morning, and then today (thursday morning) still state a few more hours. So they most definitely have no authority on the subject. They make a single post about competition, then go ahead and link a competing site... so I think he's right to be at the very least skeptical of the random facebook page.

Kinda nice to both get an update on her + slightly more info on Jeehan's current healing ability in relation to her ailment, such as how the freezing returned.
Also amused that it took him this long to think to put his backpack in his inventory. Is a bit of a dumbass like most main characters, I suppose. Not sure why he even needs to bother with one, unless he gets limited inventory slots but uses a bag as a container as a form of 'inventory expansion.' Hasn't been any major sign of his inventory being limited yet, though.
I suppose the next question is what happens if he puts a portable hole into his bag of holding style inventory, lul.

Yeah true, and he didn't do Observe either. In any RPG, when fighting a boss, first thing you do is checking his stats if you have such a spell... I know I do at least ^^

I think the fact that he found himself in someone elses illusion barrier accounts for it largely, either because he was so surprised all he could think was to survive and make sense of what was going on, or because perhaps the creator of an illusion barrier innately has the ability to dampen/impact other ability users abilities. Off the top of my head I can only actually think of one time he was in an illusion barrier and he saw a bosses level and <title>, and he had used Observe before he got to see it.

I don't see this series continuing with the same comedic tone all the time anymore. People in abyss harness power and kill. At some point, Jee Han will have to make a decision on what he has to do and how far he will go to accomplish it. His speech on not wanting to kill anyone in the early chapters, well, seems like it's foreshadowing the opposite.
As for the romance, Sung Ah isn't in the right frame of mind. Even after he saves her (or someone else; I'd rather it's Jee Han though), she'll probably still be pessimistic and depressing. Only after Jee Han fully cures her (who knows when that will happen) will we see her personality change imo. Only then will she start feeling emotions other than sadness and what not.

Yeah, the novelty of his 'gamer' power can only last so long, at which point the tone would have to shift in a slightly different direction for the series to continue. Fortunately the author seems to have a fairly solid foundation with all the other people running around with more 'standard' powers.
Let's just hope he doesn't pull a Heroes (TV show) and end up with Jee Han learning too many ridiculous abilities and having to come up with a BS power reset. Dat power creep.

I'm actually kind of a fan. I was pronouncing it wrong this whole time, and the name change not only makes more sense, but helps me to read the comic better.

So mainly a progress update on some of his commonly used (non-passive) powers.
Multiple, weaker elementals could make for some interesting scenarios, like if he needs more helping hands (non-combat applications?) rather than sheer, consolidated power. Also interesting that despite training his summon skill his Earth Elemental Affinity hasn't gone up at all, even though he specifically gained the affinity when he learned how to summon.
Since he has so many stat points banked, and it got mentioned again, I'm wondering if the author has something specific planned or if it's just Jee-Han being indecisive before he just spams them into various stats.
I'm half expecting him to get an ogre slayer title after the amount of training he's done against them.
Also had the return of the redhead, but no major dialogue so maybe next chapter. Or she'll just give him the cold shoulder again, which is also pretty likely.

More solid potential for progress on the very first harem candidate, though I'm guessing she's gonna act pissed off later anyways. Love how nonchalantly Jee-han dealt with the trash too, haha. Quite the change from how he would've reacted in the past.

Somehow I have the feeling that the sixth sense ability is only for detecting when he's about to piss off a chick, haha. Otherwise he would've gotten it long ago from all the combat he did (especially the early parts where he super scared). In any case, little popups like that which are (presumably) more for flavor than direct strength are great.
Also found it amusing that Shi-yun seems to be about as familiar with the normal world as Jee-han is with the Abyss world.

Eh, at first I was really interested in this manhwa, kept eagerly following it for a while. The author made quite an interesting and complex system with the main character, but everything else seems a little bit shallow and doesn't offer as much interesting info. (Yes there is the black market auction house etc, and supposedly some powerful organizations, wow who would have guessed, but other than that...)
Also, the manhwa artists lack of experience in drawing any action sequences shows off. Having to results into fan service even if it fits the mind of a high school boy isn't for me anymore when there could be so much more depth to be added otherwise.
I suppose a lot of these things won't matter much depending on the perspective, and the target audience is probably high school guys. I sounded harsh but it's still an ok manhwa, but there are just so many better IMO

I'm kind of hoping he pumps WIS a bit as well and does physical training (without putting his points in it). I think that would make him a lot more OP than full Int and they did hint that physical training was a way to get powerful without leveling up.

And I think everyone knows about making ridiculous game characters when you dump it all into one stat instead of being balanced. Specializing often has good payoffs. Lul at the exploit hunting. Maybe eventually he'll find a way to clip out of bounds. Might want a teleport skill before that in case he can't clip back in though, haha.

He won some INT point by studying a while back. And since he had no vit, it's obvious that he would win a lot of points early, that's how it works generally.

Well, he does have that life leech spell he got off the first Zombie boss he killed. Seems kinda suspect that he's never used it 'til now. I half wonder if it's gonna turn out to be some amazing ability that'll make him feel like an idiot for not using it sooner.
Also, I'm suddenly reminded of how some games (RPGs) have an 'aoe' toggle for spells that are usually single target. Be funny if he found something like that while fiddling around with his 'options' menu one day.

I believe someone said that book is off limits to people that aren't from clan, and so off limits to him too. but that may change now that he wants to start training fighting in their style.

I know some people complain about this being slow but I love it so much. I hope it keeps going like this for a long time :D And I hope he ends up with dozens of useful spells (teleports, telekinesis, super mana shield, super summons, aoe spells, single target spells, etc etc). So fun to imagine everything he can do.

He did get telekinesis a while ago. (Psycokinesis) I would love to what he could do with that. Like flight or throw his enemies around like rag dolls. Technically his use it for invisibility, blinding opponents, or even lasers. Just with the control over light.

I would so dump all my points into luck. That is his lowest stat currently iirc. And he hasnt gotten bonus points for it even though he had some sweet drops.

Damn, grinding physical stats like a champ if he feels 70 is a realistic goal. If only he could find a reliable way to grind Int. Speaking of which, kinda chuckled at the discussion about his tests. He has over 100 Int now; the time needed for him to study and then ace his high school tests is probably a single afternoon, if he didn't just subconciously pick it all up from hearing it in class while he was daydreaming.
At least it lead to some mildly interesting stuff about services that Abyss brokers provide in regards to making incomes look legit to the normal world.

I'm hoping once he's done this "basic" training we'll see him put it to use a bit. Real fighting techniques, ki, tons of new spells, etc. I'm pretty sure we are close to him being done with basic grinding-type training for a bit and putting it all together to become a real fighting character. Probably just in time for the story to pick up either way as I assume that won't be too far off from now.

I'm not one to usually complain about slow pace in mangas (I love training arcs) but the last 3-4 chapters have felt like they are all the same thing... A lot of the jokes are repeats from previous chapters as well.
Do a timeskip or SOMETHING because right now it's 20 pages of him explaining to his friend the idea he spent 20 pages thinking about last chapter... That's just bad writing.
Show us the character in like 1 month from now, with OP stats, tons of new skills, etc etc. Then start building the story otherwise this manga will flop quickly. The lack of activity in this thread seems to show it's starting to lose popularity for sure..

I feel that the author is still introducing or feeling out the story
We're looking at this new weird ability no one knows about from the view point of someone who recieved it randomly one day. Hes feeling it out while dealing with his daily life, so we are just observing. It seems like the author introduced possible enemies tho, meaning the MC will be thrust into the abyss world spotlight quite soon, which will basically speed up events.
TBH hes already quite broken strong. Its 50 chapters in and his intelligence is pretty much genius level already, hes getting items from low level dungeons that fetch tens to hundreds thousand dollars no problem. Imagine if the author just decided to speed up, one month later, hes the king of the fucking world with handheld nuclear launchers from the high level dungeons

I'm glad there's finally some plot development instead of just another chapter of random protagonist power-up. Still, I'm predicting he won't lose the coming confrontation just like a video game character. For such a dangerous world around him, he hasn't actually been touched yet.

iirc he randomly was able to see her level one day instead of "???" and she turned out to be a lvl. 17 legendary housewife. I don't know what triggered being able to see her level. The gamer dude has hypothesized that his parents know more about the Abyss than they're telling him. My guess is that his dad is that time wizard guy or whoever that is supposed to be out of town.

This is a rare occasion where actions of the protagonist seems reasonable to me. I am around episode 25 and i really liked it so far. He is actually trying to improve by power leveling, stacking passives, min-maxing etc :D

Honestly I thought from the first time that he was mentioned that he's his father. But with the way he looks I guess harem king is his brother?
We know that the mother is hiding sth, so she might very well be connected to the abyss and he might have a brother who grew up as part of it.
