No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.

Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers.

eek!

When will Hasbro wake up and realize what they have here. They're not going to make a lot of money forcing us to watch episodes on the Hub instead of You Tube. Buuuuut they could make several dump trucks full of money by finally selling some decent pony swag. I would easily pay $30 for a quality RBD action figure. (or maybe in this case, doll would be the correct term?? anyway unimportant)

When you have created a huge internet phenomenon, don't kill it--profit from it!

It's most likely brony hating trolls getting Youtube's automated shit to axe the channels. This has happened before.

Someone compiled all of Dash's voice cracks from S1. It's almost as adorable as Fluttershy. Almost.

Now I myself am not interested in buying any episodes I can watch for free on the internet, but the reasons for which they gave that spongebob and (IMO) clone wars being in complete season sets and not MLP is quite ridiculous. These guys don't really know who's watching the show...

poo... I was planning on buying the DVD's just to support MLP but i don't want to buy shitty 4 episode DVDs. to be honest i was hoping for a blu-ray box set that came with the digital copies and all the behind the scenes goodies, would have been sweet.

i guess their reasoning makes sense though, but i would still like to see who is creating more revenue for MLP, bronies or the target demographic.

Well I can completely understand their reasoning. If they make a Blu Ray box set, how many bronies do you think would actually buy it? I'd be shocked if it sold 10,000 copies or more.

Until there is solid proof that the blu ray box set would sell, they won't do it.

It sucks, and I really want a box set, but business is business.

Spongebob is and was made in a similar manner to MLP as it is for both children and adults (and everything inbetween and beyond), the people who set up these box sets don't really quite know what they've got here as well as Hasbro and all the corporate big-whigs along the industry.

I can't help but think that the bronies are indefinably the ones who generate the most profit as a community base. This could include anything from contests to merch spread through the internet. As for Hasbro's revenues themselves well it is because of the bronies that the show is known so widely and commonly, for the moment however due to the current things being sold I can't give the same assessment for Hasbro. Though I am sure bronies are still a big contributer to their direct income it will take some changes in their wares to see nearly all of their profits being from bronies. We will probably see this in a year or so.

dunno man, you have to remember that a majority of the bronys are not actually viewing it on HUB, some streams have like 2000 viewers, hasbro and their partners are getting 0 ratings and 0 profit from these people so that really only leaves the merchandise to profit off of.

I cant help but thinking that the people who buy a significant amount of pony merch are a "loud minority" i would bet that there are more people without a significant amount of merch then the people with lots. Like for me i only have about 40$ worth of merch and most of that was spent on a shirt that hasbro dose not get full profit on. Also I am sure there are little girls who have just as many pony toys as some of the die-hard bronies that you see posting their collections

In any event i would put money on the revenue gained from the 2 demographics is quite close.

Honestly, I agree with you, GB. Because of the nature of The Hub, it won't get nearly the ratings it's capable of just because so many of us are forced to watch the streams instead. Another reason why bronies aren't giving Hasbro as much money as both parties would like is the lack of plushies and show accuracy in the toys, not to mention all of the shirt sites aren't owned by Hasbro.

There is a good amount of brony-related cash flow, but since the majority of it is within the fandom itself due to lack of appropriate merch by the company, revenue and ratings aren't at the place they should be.

Somehow I feel like people will spend more money on pony swag and merch than parents will on toys for kids :p
Granted it's holiday season soon, everything will be crazy.
I just think that all they have to do is change their image of what they are selling ie show accurate merch and suddenly they do have a huge revenue here. It's only a matter of time till they figure it out.

It is still a quality show for its intended audience. Kids are discriminating. The bonus is that 'we' get to watch it as well.

Looking at the financial report, the merchandising revenue is what they expect to profit from but it would be nice if the network broke even. The latter is a case of getting the other shows up to FiM's standard, not that FiM isn't selling enough right now.

The best way we can support the show is still official merchandise, and to a lesser extent keep being vocal so others become fans which eventually lead to more children watching the Hub or buying toys.

Adorable as those plushies are, the pricetag is a bit steep for me... Also the sheer amount of space required in my teeny apartment.

Exactly; we can't honestly expect them to cater to us. The only way I'd ever seeing them doing something that directly benefits bronies is if it's a "catch-all" maneuver that will benefit their target demographic as well. Most of what I was saying is that it's a pity things aren't slightly different from a marketing standpoint, as it'd definitely give them more money from us. I only really express concern about their profits from bronies because the more money the make, the longer they'll want to support the show and G4 itself.

on the topic of revenue for MLP I also feel the brony community forgets how relatively small our community is. We seem to get caught up on impressive numbers (omg EqD is almost at 70 million page views!) and the content that is put out (omg so much pony music!) you have to realize that right now the brony community is very focused (for example i check EqD at least 3 times a day, that seems low compared to other people) if you take a step back and look at the big picture, it really is not as big as it seems. Sure its quite noticeable to us, people who use the internet far too much :p, but if i were to make a brony status update on facebook or something similar i would guess that only about 20% of the people who read it would have an idea of what the hell I am talking about and maybe only like 5% of the people are bronies themselves with even less still giving money to hasbro and their partners.

Bronies tend to get ahead of them selves quite often, we all seem like very excitable people :D

I have always wanted EqD to have some sort of "brony census" so we could have a rough idea of how big we actually are, where it is most popular and other things like that.

I would be surprised if the number of bronies is over 300 000 people but this community dose have a way of surprising you.
