Clever... i think it's a possibility and would explain why Lucy thinks she must close it. Only problem is in the future, dragons exterminated nearly everything and future Rogue is saying Lucy close the gate, which implies dragons didn't come from the gate. Or maybe he's just lying. Don't forget the Royal Knight guy who is like the Princess' right hand in this project was chanting "Zeref! Zeref! Zeref!" at the beginning of the arc. I think it was HIS idea to use the eclipse project in the first place. He might have made up the dragon threat to get them to use this. But that wouldn't explain the future that Lucy and supposedly Future Rogue came from... and the dragon corpses under the city DO seem to suggest that dragons might be coming back again for the dragon king festival... http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/263/17 http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/279/24 http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/282/20 anyway I'll settle on the theory that the royal knight guy is a Zeref agent who manipulated the Princess into using the Eclipse cannon so time can be pushed back, and all the dragons under the city that were once killed by Zeref (the once who hated humans and were killed by Zeref) will be brought back to life again. No new dragons coming. Ressurecting old ones that hate humans. | ||

I have two theories, either they are dragons from the past, thousands of years ago during the human-vs-dragon wars, or the Eclipse somehow resurrects the dead in the dragon burial grounds. Leaning toward the dragons flying through the gate. | ||
