Natsu and the others were born before Erza, but she was revived before them due to the time travel Zeref initiated. That's the why she was alone in a random village. She wasn't born until after the skip or was born right before it. Essentially they are all the same age.

I wonder where Acnologia is and what happened to Mavis and Zeref after her escape. They go off on these tangents and it just doesn't work for me half the time

It's actually so anti climatic how acnologia killed serena, who was also a dragonslayer, and the scene was made all epic as in Acnologia is now going out to seek out all the dragonslayers and kill them, and now he's probably sleeping somewhere instead for such a long time.

First of all, yeah that was an amazing chapter with all the lore and reveals. Haven't had such a good FT chapter in forever it feels like.
Second of all, yes Acnologia is prolly jacking it off in the woods or so bored he took an afternoon nap. I don't believe for one second he could have been teleported so far away he couldn't have turned into his dragon form and flew right back in a matter of mere minutes.
Shouldn't that also make Elaine Belsarion his prime target? Why go for half-dead chumps like Laxus or Sting/Rogue when you have prolly the most powerful and first-rate firstborn dragonslayer in your reach? He craves battle.

You know why Erza could cross that magic barrier? Simple: At the time Mashima didn't have the plot ready about her and her mother.

I still feel like Lucy's mother should be explored more. Didn't she make Natsu's scarf from Igneel's dragon scales, or was that Lucy's great-great-great-grandmother or something?

Really? I think the thing with the magic barrier is quite obvious.
The dragon slayers had their dragons in them (all of them easily older than 80 years) that's why they couldn't cross the barrier. Erza did not have a dragon in her.

Also why do people believe that Erza is hundreds of years old?
Were I, a 26 year old, decide to time travel right now 10 years into the future - would I suddenly be 36? No, my body would still be 26...

I wouldn't be so quick to agree with that, there's room for discussion on what your age would be.
Doesn't matter what your body's age is, it's about how old are you(if you can follow my point). And whether you see, or others see you, as 26 or 36 is up to you/them/whoever wants to think about it.
No way to come to a consensus though, as it is not a possible situation and is up to anyone's interpretation.

also we don't know if erza time travelled at all just yet.

The only good time travel iteration is the one with the butterfly effect. You go back or forward in time, fuck up your own timeline, try to correct it, fuck it up even more, sacrifice something you wanted to change in order to go back to your original timeline.
This kind of time travel or The Flash's kind always lead to bullshit somewhere down the line and it's just writing yourself into a corner.

If you travel back in time Sharkie, no matter you're biological age, your perceived age is what people will latch on to. You wouldn't be -4, you'd just be 26. Both ways.

Pretty much it depends on how Freed's runes were coded.

If it's: IF (Current Date - Date of Birth)/365 > 80 THEN DO (BLOCK) then there might be an issue.

If it's: IF (Biological days alive)/365 > 80 THEN DO (BLOCK) then there probably wouldn't be.

As far as I know there's no comment on which it is in the manga, and it's magic so there's no reason it couldn't be one or the other.

Biological fits. Could replace chronological with perceived though. Since you're time of aging is changing, but not the way you naturally age. Make sense? Biologically I'm probably 2342 with the way my body feels. But I've been on Earth for 30. (If that even helps)

we havent even seen Erza be born yet, her mother must have done something to prevent herself from turning into a dragon, most likely wisdom dragon guy did what Igneel and the rest did and went inside Eileen to cure the changing, eileen goes in stasis and has Erza afterwards

I went and looked it up in my hard copy and in that it says anyone and does not specify males. Not directly from the Japanese but from the official translation that is being sold.
