its magic it doesnt have to follow reason, there stealing there power from the future so in the future they cant use it because tehy already used it

It feels like an anime thing to do, but it really is a completely random usage restriction.
Hell, if I had a power to grant this to anyone, I'd just go along and give it to everyone and not tell them about it.
They would probably end up using it at some point, even if it's not on purpose, and they'll lose their magic forever.

it's not about them not being able to use it in the future, it's about them losing all of their magic capabilities forever once they use it.
also they're not stealing anything, they're just using it.
It's not like if you learn to do some magic skill then the mystic you in the future forgets how to do it for some reason.

they are stealing it, all the magic they may ever use is gonna be entirely used up now, from this moment on whenever they gather any mana it will just go to the past to be used then

This is fairy tail. You can be sure that they'll just regain their magic again and call it fouth breath or the plot just conveniently forgets that they are meant to lose their magic. Afterall ultear was supposed to die as a condition of her time magic and didn't die either.

I'm pretty sure Mashima just wanted to make a character that stopped time and stripped women to fap to occasionally and then realized bringing back Ultear was a relatively easily handwaved way to deal with that power.

Ultear said something along the lines of dying or sacrificing herself to cast the spell that'd send everyone back in time to survive the attack, then it turned out she became really old after casting it.
And now it's not Ultear but an image of Ultear or something that's helping them, able to appear whenever someone screws with time.

overall fight felt rushed and meh. 
idk, might be the pink glasses syndrome when FT began, but it kind of feels like the fights earlier were way more fleshed out.
Mashima seems to like penetrating FT characters lately, it used to not happen ever really, now wendy got her leg pierced, and we've had stuff like that happen somewhat often lately.. fun fact.

Yea not a fan of the whole fight. Too fast, made Ultear basically cameo just to do this third origin thing so it feels weird if she is going to leave forever again. The enemy they fought was pretty cool and nice little thing to become some pesudo-god but then she got 1 shot basically by 3rd origin lol.
And yea...ever since the demon arc Mashima has been upping the lewd when he does it.

prob same as that other dude who could move people to alternate demension and teleport, he pulls knifes out of a pocket space similar to Erzas exquip, his ability to harm mavis might be by accident, hes attackeing her without realising his attacks are actually happening where her real body is, then her ghost body reacts in pain, might know shes there by sensing the magic or something

Why did he throw a dagger at Lucy?
Someone like that has no reason to carry any blades, if his magic can just instantly make people disappear.
Then again, it sounds way too OP, even stronger than zeref and acnologia, so there's probably some trick to it. And the trick I'm thinking now is that he reverse summoned them to the celestial world.
I swear if this guy turns out to be some kind of celestial mage/spirit that lucy couldn't recognize because reasons, and if FT members come back a convenient time by their own because they're friends with the god of that world and all the zodiacs then I'm going to drop this manga.
I don't think he's clueless enough to not know who he's attacking in mavis' case, because he did say that he knows she's a ghost and the bruises on the ghost form were way worse than the ones on the real mavis body, so he's not attacking the real one.

maybe his magic is to move things to alternate dimensions, his magic was activated moving the guild, in order to move lucy hed have to deactivate it then reactivate it again which caries risk, easier to just deal with the problem in the simplest most effecient manner
