A likely explanation is "they needed to plan and train to defeat him but they couldn't afford taking so much time when their powers wane." It doesn't address why they took so long to train the kids (it implies once into the future they need more time than that to prepare, otherwise might as well have done it in their time), nor why they didn't show up earlier, nor what their current plan is (again, just 5v1ing him is bleh). Remember that Zeref didn't say the dragon slayer kids had a part in the plan to defeat Acnologia, they were only vessels, so the plan isn't to train them until they're at peak condition (so young adults/adults) to join forces with them. There's still a lot of logic missing to make sense of the plan, but 1- Mashima can still explain the rest later, 2- it's not like you can expect him to come up with good stuff on that front anyway so don't sweat it. * etheros, mana, it's the same with a fancy name really | ||
