I don't see "multiple strategies" much in this meta.

It's more like huge patches are blowing up the meta every couple months and huge roster shuffles are blowing up teams every couple months, so there's zero stability or polish to anything. We're always seeing half-baked product
I agree with the overall point that in terms of the scene trending that way but I feel 6.86 has lasted almost long enough and the changes 6.87 introduced were warranted.

Buff his Storm Spirit, and he'll win TI6 again.

That Glimpse actually helped the Medusa by saving him some time walking back to lane rofl.

then you may be thinking of macro-strategies. such as push or not, jungle, or not. it's unavoidable in dota strategy that jungle is utilized and that structure damage is needed. but laning can be a big deal as well. the deal that seals the rest of the game or enables certain rings of heroes viable at all.
newbee falls back on spectre, secret prefers invoker, alliance loves nature's prophet, OG likes phoenix, liquid plays lycan and BM, various other teams first-pick wisp and doom over anything else, lifestealer for EU teams, slark or alchemist for wings, and the list goes on
we're talking about what is solid enough to be preferred in play--used in games that need to be won, such as in group stages leading to bo1's.
how teams can look, feel, and play so differently from each other shows that there are plenty of options as to what is considered solid.

Sad days being an EG fan right now Shamefur dispray. I'm super stoked to see the new rosters. :D If Sumail leaves. I bet CC&C ends up ppd's new mid. If Sumail gets kicked from EG, you may not see him in another ti1 team in a very long time. He's been on decline for awhile now. I think org (not the current teams) like coL will look at him, I think c9 is going to be revived by next TI and might be in the market.
There are better Mid players in the NA scene right now imo. CC&C might have the brightest future, but MSS has been playing well and as much as I hate to say it Sney should be given a chance given his stupid high mmr.

Valve going in the opposite direction and inviting more, is clearly not the answer. The only way it goes the wrong way is if they KEEP inviting the underperfoming teams , i have 0 issues with TL/OG/Newbee /EG/Secret(defending champions) for this major , BUT after Secret being bad for so long they shouldnt get an invite for the next Valve event , EG are debatable but probably wont invite as well , it should be minimum top 6 or having a great post major season to get that autoinvite The problem is they are pretty much bound to be underperforming, even though it doesn't show as much because the adversaries are in the same position. Let me give you an example of OG. From creation to Frankfurt they had played by far the most of any team with about 150 games, to say EGs 35. After they got on Valve's map, their participation in tournaments decreased significantly.
It is a circle jerk by Valve, because they get invited on performances in their own tournaments, that is against bulk of teams that "never" plays either. The amount of money the teams now earn make them bypass tournaments, because they do not have to fear anything, and probably fear of doing poorly at some tournaments, makes them just pass it up, as that seems to be better than bad results.
I may be remembering wrong, because Dota keeps being evolved, but it has been a long time since I have seen so many teams just execute incredibly poorly, because they are rusty.
Invite the defending champs and perhaps a host country team, and that is it.

I mean it's hard to say how one NA pub star is better with Sumail has more LAN experience plus multiple championships. He's been on decline, but the landscape of Dota has really change. He was sorta the start of young blood talent that came with the package of EG during DAC and ever since then people started taking 8k mmr pub stars seriously. Hence why you see W33 and Miracle on top teams now.
