Windrunner to Blink or not to Blink!

Hello guys, I've been playing WR if my team want's me to be a carry. This is the only hero that I'm confident for a carry type. I've been having some issues lately as normally, I will go for SB for WR whichever lane I am in. Some of my friends have been telling me to go for dagger instead. I tried using dagger however my guts really tells me that SB is better. Just trying to clear everything if Dagger is more effective than SB for WR? And if so, why? Your help will be sincerely appreciated.

P.S.
My position is actually hard support if we play like tournaments, for MMR or pub-games I play carry for fun.

shadowblade is too slow because a lot of the time you will see an opportunity and angle for a good shackleshot and need to take advantage of it there and then. it's also countered by detection

I have a 300 games on WR, my most played hero, in 3k mmr range. To me, blink is better because you can ensure yourself a blink escape with Windrun (the seconds of evasion buys you time for the blink to reset). You can also use it to disengage, for example if you shackle + focus somebody you realize you aren't going to kill, or you're nervous their team is coming in to follow up and you can't kill them in time. In these cases dust + sentry would wreck you if your windrun is on cooldown (basically SB carries all the caveats that invisibility does). Also I have gotten kills purely by abusing the range of a quick blink + powershot when somebody is fleeing with low health.

The other problem is that although SB can turn into Silver edge and be useful against PA, I always feel MKB is better because of the bash proc, and your team will likely count on you to get an MKB.

So it's not that it's awful, it's just that blink is better.

first of all you should give your mmr because I'm 4k and I won't try to say much to a higher mmr player unless I know for sure.

carry windrunner usually builds agh and maelstrom first for damage. It's more up to the supports to disable for you while you pump out the right clicks.

In terms of engage / initiation blink is better because it can position for shackle shot perfectly, you don't have a point and forget stun like sven or tiny where shadowblade can work well, you need to angle your shackles.

To justify an item you want to look at what aspect it provides and if you're using that aspect. For shadowblade it's like this:
Shadowblade is used frequently for disengaging and run away, but you already have windrun so that's another aspect of sb not really utilized. Shadowblade is used to give you faster movement speed, but again you already have windrun.

With blink you can pull off some ridiculous escapes by turning on windrun and having them miss hits so you have blink off cd

but if you're carry you want to build damage first. With blink first you don't do that much damage with ult and you are playing more like an initiating type which tends to make the game volatile if you couldn't find the right initiations or fights didn't go well. Agh into blink is most stable in that once you have blink you can solo kill almost anyone w/o question.
