Na'vi beating VP and Secret, Pain beating Newbee, FlyToMoon beating Mineski (also VP in a BO3, but not in group stage) not enough surprises for Epicenter? I don't think the previous results this season would lead people to expect these. And this is excluding the OG results coz I had no idea how Mad played before that.
Also today Keen beats Secret, VGJ.Storm beats Fnatic both in BO3-s. Though I personally favour BO3-s coz they are way more exciting, I think this talk of BO1-s being massively unfair compared to BO3-s is a bit overhyped in Dota.

K... Got it. Makes sense now. :-)

I think you are spot on. I think that's why Arteezy mentioned he went after 71. Kyle would be a good fit on paper, but I doubt EG (Sumail & maybe Arteezy, I think) would respect what he has to say.

VGJ.Storm has secured a top 3 spot in MDL, which means they will gain a minimum of 225(x3) points, and they managed to beat OG and Secret. If EG fails to secure an invite to TI, quals are looking extremely scary.

That is what Arteezy meant when he said that you should peak close before TI and not at the start of the season. I hope that EG will get their stuff together for the last 2 Majors this season.

VGJ.Storm's points don't count, but NA's qualifiers are going to be wild.
At the same time, those qualifiers are still over a month away, so we're at least 2 meta shifts between then & now.

They are given points on the ranking page though? Or because of Timado kick they are like OG and can't get auto invite?
But yeah EG need make sure they don't go through NA quals as 2 spots from NA and VGJs and Optic to go through will make it very crunch. However when EG played VGJs in Thailand they beat them very comfortably, i didn't think they would go on to win that tourney yet they did so it is interesting.

I think EG is still better than VGJ.S, Optic, and coL, whether or not their play is on point is a different story.
During GESC, they still had chances against Secret in groups and Keen to advance. I'm most scared of EG vs VGJ.S because Resolution seems to always play well vs EG (TI7 another example).
Day 1 vs Fnatic, then likely against VP in Birmingham. ESL One/Birmingham/2018

Well we got "Lucky" and "Unlucky" at the same time right? 2 advance but just a 3 man group. HOWEVER, Fnatic recently beat us and VP curse has long gone. Unless VP arrive undercooked or they have figured out Fnatic better then they should be fine, but who knows right!
Oh well, lets go!

It won't be a 3 team group. ESL will fly in a replacement before this major starts.
EG can still go through via direct invite. They need either a second in ESL or a 3rd in supermajor, or a 4th place in both majors; this roughly puts them around 2500 DPC points.

Well, tournament #1 of 2 before TI.
They have the potential to secure top 3 finish and take a DPC invite, but I can also see them bombing out of this tournament in the group stage and heading to NA qualifiers.
Lots of hopes but not much else to say until I see them play.

To be fair, LGD just won a tournament on the back of EGs playstyle right? "Split push" meta, surely EG should have a good time?
Also just noticed Team Spirit make up the 4th team in our group. Could be tough vs them as they are unknown and on paper have talented players. G is good, Illidan old school good carry, Phobos experienced offlaner as well.

New "Life of a Genius" is out if anyone else watches those.

Time for some shuffling before next major me thinks. Unless they just do or die at it, one last hoorah for them to try somehow turn it all around and "win" that tournament to get TI, or they will change at least 1 player as Sumail and Rtc have to be 1 and 2, with some non greedy 3 who can just play a standard offlane hero.

really tough group :/ but hard to have sympathy for a team that underperforms as often as they do
