Eh, seems like this was a long time coming for EG. All the way back at the beginning of the year I didn't think that Fear could keep up as a core when it was announced he was returning to the roster. There were some good performances here and there, but nothing lasting. After what, 9 months or so, I am not convinced that Fear is a top tier carry.
Sumail looked OK in the offlane for maybe a month or so, but it was a relatively short period with the "sacrificial mid meta" lasted. Based on his play 1) he doesn't really have the drive to play top tier dota anymore, or 2) he should just stick with mid. Bouncing Fear and Sumail around seems to have ended in a bit of a disaster.
It's unfortunate to say, but based on results in the past few months now, the roster is in total disarray. I don't remember the last time EG got DPC points honestly, before Christmas? To me it's based on poor management, having a player owned org is likely the root cause. Disappointing to see.
edit: of course I'm just an armchair analyst, but seems that Fear out, Sumail maybe out unless he can really prove himself again, and bring in a new offlaner and carry. It doesn't make sense to change the roster before TI, so maybe we'll see some brilliance in the coming months, but I remain quite skeptical.
So last tournament won was GESC mid march, not as bad as I thought. I dunno maybe there's still hope, but losing here + how they looked in qualifiers over the past month or so is not giving me a lot of hope.

Fear isn't the problem; he's not a Somnus / Noone type player, never has been, never will be.
I think EG's problems lie with Sumail and warding. Vision has been an atrocity for EG. It's amazing how close they keep games when they constantly lose the vision battle. Check wards whenever there's a solo pick off, much of the time it's useless vision or there are 0 wards.
I just wish EG would be more flexible. I think Arteezy on Medusa and Fear on Gyro is better than the other way around.
Also Sumail's play has been incredibly inconsistent, except his highs aren't as dominant as they were in the TI5 era. He needs to go. I didn't like when he switched to off lane and the only hero he plays well there is Beastmaster. Way too many dives; his divey nature doesn't pay off with the nature of comeback gold, with cores worth more than they used to be.

EG will never be relevant again until they have a real captain/drafter. The game keeps shifting more and more away from individual outplays towards teamwork and having a plan, and this group of players is clearly incapable of the latter.

I feel like if RTZ wants to place good at TI, this would be a good time to move to OG. He seems like a perfect fit there, replacing 7mad. That does leave The Boys in quite the situation though, so it would only be for his benefit (and OG's). Just seems very hard to salvage this team at the moment, what they are doing is clearly not working (right now at least) and there are no good replacements they can make.

I don't think it lies on Sumail at all, and it doesn't lie on Fear either, its a team issue with playstyle etc. Sumail is on a Doom which job is to literally run in and Doom someone, when your the best mechnically gifted player, doing a role like that you are wasted, pure and simple. He also then tries to make flashy plays like he is on an ember spirit or something with his doom and heroes like that which can't happen, your an offlane doom. He is just wasted on that position now and its clearly becomming and issue.
Drafting this tournament has been an issue but before that, when they won GESC and looked good in a couple of majors/tournaments before that getting pretty "far" or having good results it was back when they properly had a drafting idea. Now it seems they are lost and we need Bulba to work his magic fast before something really goes wrong.
Also at the guy saying Rtc to OG, it could quite work the other way around too, S4 come to EG, bench Fear and you then have your offlaner who can play the sacced offlane whilst Sumail and Rtc farm the map out going off on one.
Also i hate keep saying bench Fear but it is either Fear/Sumail or Rtc have to go to make space for an Offlaner and none of that is a good idea it seems. But hey knowing this group, when their backs are against the wall, the next tournament they do seem to step up. Top 3 at Super Major and before you know it we are thinking anything is possible lol.

A big change is needed, be it roster of playstyle, they can't hope to go to TI playing like that. I want the team to do well, I hope they can figure something out before it's too late

I think NA hates him too much to ever get on a top team (not sure he's quite good enough for that anyways).
also he's making tons of dough as a streamer now, and gets invites to more and more events - especially together with Kyle I feel like it's always a great watch.

Well from what I read Fear missed his kid being born to play at ESL. It probably didn't help that he got stomped 3 straight games.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Fear retire or move into a non-player role if he really did have a kid
