If they went 17W 3L in scrims prior to Birmingham i thought they would be feeling confident somewhere.
EG came in playing a late-game style, but everyone else went really early game. They got rolled as a result. All of the post-TI7 metas tend to work around finding a way to get from your laning to your mid-game to your late-game. EG has had problems connecting that properly since Epicenter last year where they lost the finals to Liquid.
If EG could swing it, the best "call", if they're going to blow up the roster & need a 3, is to get Sneyking. If Optic managed to win ESL One, then it pretty much would eliminate all competition for the NA qualifier. A real "evil genius" move, but it's also logical from their perspective. No clue if Sneyking would do it, though.
They can grab anyone in the NA scene, as there's only EG, Optic & VGJ.Storm. Khezu looks about the best player I can find that's not really got a TI ticket pretty close.

Eg.synderen + eg.khezzu? XD

EG needs a proper captain, and if Misery leaves/gets kicked, it's problematic. Moving Fear to 5 wont really solve anything (earlier in the season Fear played 5 and Uni is still here, and sadly that didnt work out).
I think EG needs to move Sumail back to mid, and probable move Fear to the offlane role (offlane heroes with the 3rd farm priority).

kzu is quite knowledgeable, but also seems rather underwhelming quite often, if he doesn't get bat or sandking
I do really like his stream - not sure he's quite tier 1 material.

Seems Misery is out of EG then for sure, he either left or they kicked him...not sure which one. Fear back to 5 or offlane is going to happen surely, then someone else is coming in.
But if they make changes they can't get anything out of the super major ?
|
In that interview Arteezy says that some changes are coming but also seems to be talking as if they can still qualify to TI with a good result from Supermajor, which would suggest that they aren't changing players.

Yeah but then he mentions a lot of information about Open qualifiers and such and all that jazz. Not sure what is going on
New complexity roster is out; 1. Moo 2. Limmp 3. Moonmeander 4. ZFreek 5. 343/Adam
Then Swindlemelonz aka Kyle tweeted he is back this morning at 10am.....is it going to be EG.Kyle???? It looking like it, but then that means either they are sticking Sumail offlane? Sumail has to play mid, maybe Fear can play the sacked offlane fine, im not sure, he can play DK offlane every game right no problems? xD

Well that didn't take long to get announced. Curious to see what happens. So many teams going through opens in various regions this year. Hopefully they will have many open qual slots in NA given that EG, VGJS and coL are all there

The game bounty(gold)/xp formulas would have to drastically be altered for a Sumail back to mid to have a sizeable effect. In this day and age, it hardly matters if you're a good mid anymore. The game will eventually force you into spammy skirmishes or full on teamfights anyway -- at this point you're hitting buttons and aiming to land spells.
The game is no longer about beating the other guy, this doesn't mean you get to feed away your laning phase tho, Icefrog added some game corrections to make sure you weren't doing this anymore unpunished. Aka slowly removing every shrine feature he added in 7.0, might as well remove it completely.

Kyle basically said before game 3 on BSJ stream that the reason VP win is because the whole meta is back to "win the lanes, win the game", VP win the lanes and thus win there games. He said until they nerf that aspect they will be on top.
So i don't buy the Sumail back to mid wont change anything, he will still be on a core which is able to carry EG through a win on his own (kinda). Gold swings happen, Optic had all the gold they wanted at one point vs VP in game 2 and still lost convincingly etc etc just as is with dota.

I still think Sumail is the problem; I hope he at least goes back to mid. He needs to go or EG becomes Navi 2.0.
Sad how OpTic and VGJ.S both ended up with more DPC points than EG. However, I hope Valve will change the roster lock to allow the super major to actually change the top 8 -- most teams are DQ'd because of roster changes; it's only hurting teams going through the open playing against pros.
EG starting to sound like a pubstar team tbh. I think if TI goes bad though, EG breakup is imminent.

VP look for really early timings. That's why Solo is always placing deep wards quite early. Even if VP isn't ahead in the early parts of the laning stage, they're going to gank you deep and take an objective behind that move. It's why No[o]ne seems to be on such "boring" heroes lately. They just need lvl 6 on one of their cores, then they start their mid-game. For most teams, their mid-game timings are around their supports.
( https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3915648691 This game is a good example, from other teams, of the function. Universe was losing his lane, rotates Middle and just runs CCnC out of the lane, letting DJ get a lot of farm - for a Rubick - and let Abed snowball. It's the same approach, just with standard heroes.)
EG's problem is the inflexibility of RTZ. In an early game meta, his teams always struggle; in a late game meta, they look almost unstoppable. (TI Bracket Stage *always* moves very early aggression. Always.)
NA Open Qualifiers are going to be as nutty as the NA Regionals. It seems like everyone except Optic & Immortals are going through Opens, but that probably means there is 6-8 slots available, thus little risk of some wonky situation where VGJ.Storm & EG have to knock each other out.

So they're down a 3 (since you know Sumail is going back to mid) and a 5. Since Bulba hasn't been cloned, who's coming in?
I imagine an EU-based offlaner, as there isn't anyone available in NA that's really worth talking about.

Forev, Demon, Kyle (and Bulba) are the best options they have.
Edit: Saksa, Kitrak

Which is why I said an EU-based one would make the most sense, haha. As much as the could really use Kyle, if they did qualify for TI, they'd end up kicking him before they got there.
