Masa was rly good. The most ridiculous dishes were * glass of toro topped with caviar * waygu beef topped with grated black truffle * a huge ball of mozarella completely covered in black truffle (lol)
But honestly the best part by far was just how great the individual pieces of sushi were. It felt like just the rice and soy sauce and wasabi on the rolls was substantially better than most of the food that I've had in the past several months. I could eat it for ages.
We sat at the bar and talked to the chef, which was pretty fun. While we were there a table ordered the single most expensive bottle of sake on the menu (they only had one bottle of it!) and sent the chef a glass, which made him super exicted. He offered the glass to everyone at the bar lol (I did not drink don't worry).
Some folks that were friendly with him came in at some point. They seemed super determined to show off that they knew stuff about him and were a lot more determined to talk to him than he was to them which was funny, but we got to learn a bit about his life which was cool. My favorite moment was at one point one of them mentioned traveling to Puerto Rico (I think) and he just instantly perked up and got this huge grin on his face and shouted BASEBALL!!! which was adorable.
It was a little silly the folks to our left were there for some dude's birthday and the folks on our right were there for an aniversary andI was just there with my ex (we considered ourselves "amicably divorced" at this point) because I...lost a bet? Kind of?
Anyway it was really great, I think whether it's "worth it" pretty strongly depends on your relationship with spending money on food obviously, but I didn't leave sad that I had spent what I did. And that's pretty separate from how I've felt after eating at plenty of fancy places (particularly two-star michelin restaurants) where it feels like the meal wasn't THAT good.

i once went to the most expensive and best restaurant here, i remember being like 300-400 for the tipycal course
one of the dishes was... SOUP MADE WITH RAIN FROM THE CHILEAN PATAGONIA
Not bad at all, but at some point it's hard to decide if food is worth it, because you are there for the experience and the whole package, you don't go to a super expensive and fancy restaurant to spend hundreds of dollar just to stop being hungry, you do it like if you go to the movies or watch a show.
like eieio said, it depends if you are willing to experience what its to be in those kind of restaurants, otherwise just save yourself 300 dollars and get a burger
Not sure i would do it again in that particular restaurant, but i could try another one of those super fancy restaurants without a doubt

Glad to hear you guys had a good time :D That all sounds super tasty...
My brother has been going to school to become a fancy chef. It rules. Everything he cooks now is super tasty. Even if he's making spaghetti he'll put it in some crazy delicious wine-butter reduction.
Unrelated: does anyone know who this guy is and if he tours?

My uncle used to own a high end restaurant that served alligator meat by importing Chinese alligators. The restaurant went under when one of the alligators faked its own death and later ripped off the arm of one of the chefs when he was handling the alligators in the cold storage.

badass origin story for a mutant alligator

I found another three pistols lying around in a filing cabinet. I'm worried someone in my family might be plotting a revolution or something

Mayor of Gdańsk (the biggest Polish coastal city) has been stabbed on the stage of a charity concert (a big, country-wide annual thing in Poland for the WOŚP charity). He's an opposition politician, and the attacker is said to be shouting some political motives for the attack. The mayor survived, but is in critical condition. Shit is crazy, something like this haven't happened in Poland for decades I think?

It has just been announced that he died in the hospital from his wounds despite a 5h operation and 41 units of blood transfused last night. From the news reports it seems that security at the event has been very lackluster, official investigation is already in progress. The attacker has been reported as mentally ill/unstable, and also a previously convicted criminal (for assault iirc).

Did you see this story poulsen? Apparently there's a recovered text from John Paul II
Seems very relevant in the current political climate... Is this something people are talking about or is it not such a big deal?
