I mean fwiw this isn't the first person i've dated post breakup but its the first person i actually like so

Date the girl, see how it works out. The worst thing that happens is you have a good time for three months and are bummed out at four months. Relationships are experiences in being part of someone’s life for a period of time, you aren’t wasting time by having one.

Worst thing that can happen is you suddenly doing a long vacation in Europe! Though Ireland in the winter... Northern Ireland or EU Ireland?

I'm actually considering going to Ireland for Christmas this year, although I'll probably put it off till later. Maybe go see Julmust and see how he's doing now that he doesn't have to deal with us xD

On paper faze clan looks really strong, their results in the legends stage don't really seem to support that though. This is a team that I could cheer for simply because I know most of the names in it xd

Unfortunately I have no connection with the CS:GO Team of Liquid apart from loving their former SC:BW, SC2 and Dota squads. Though I've stopped following the former two.

I had plans to buy the new RTX 2080, thinking that it will provide the usual 30% improvement over the best GPU from the previous generation (as it has always been), only to find out that its the same performance as a 1080 Ti ... So now if I want to get that performance increase I need to pay a hefty premium of 450Euro and get the 2080Ti. Thanks but no thanks Nvidia!
|
Is there any advantage in picking up an RTX2080? Does it consume less power or is it a theoretical improvement that you can't actualize for software-related reasons?
|
It's a 1/7 improvement by most benchmarks (~15%). Not really a huge change. There's that random technology it adds that handles lighting really well, but if it only exists on the most bleeding edge graphics cards I doubt we'll see much of it for at least a couple years.
Does have lower power and heat as well. (Mainly seems useless if you aren't really into playing at 2160p or above)

Not at the moment no, it doesnt provide any real benefit over the previous flagship 1080Ti. It offers Ray Tracing (hence RTX), a technology that isnt available in any game title so far, and a new anti aliasing model called DLSS, which again no game title has it implemented yet. Thing is even their flagship 2080Ti barely runs RTX demos at 60fps at 1080p resolution.
If you ask me RTX is far from being mainstream or perform at a level everyone expects it to, it will probably take another 2 generations of GPU's until it runs at least at 100+ FPS @ 1440p.
DLSS seems like a promising technology, but the question is how fast will this technology be picked up by game devs and how soon it will be available in games. Another question is, can this technology be implemented in games that are already out. If it can be implemented and that offers a good performance boost, sure the RTX 2080 will become way more valuable, but as of now, it costs 200$ more than the 1080Ti and performs the same. You'll be basically spending extra 200$ on the hopes that DLSS brings that performance increase. I dont think anyone at this point expects to get anything out of the RT technology, at least not a high frame rates and higher resolutions.
