Kind of ashamed to say the first thing that crossed my mind was "phew don't know anyone who plays competitive Madden." my sister told me "there was a shooting at a gaming thing in florida" and I just straight panicked for like 5 seconds before she told me details, just absolute dread

I didn't for this but I was up all night after the Paris bataclan attacks because I had friends in the city
I'm pretty numb to most shootings at this point though...

i wonder what the next murder fad is going to be
I hope its where they kill themselves first

So, tokyo mirage sessions. Trying it out a bit, and my whole thought process, the entire time can be summed up with one word : Why?

I hope its where they kill themselves first This already is a fad, and in fact accounts for 2/3rds of all gun deaths in America: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/gun-deaths/
Also relevant: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/magazine/magazine_article/guns-suicide/ "Gun owners and their families are much more likely to kill themselves than are non-gun-owners... 'I started noticing that, jeez, this death happened the same day that the kid was arguing with his parents, or that the young man had just broken up with his girlfriend, or that the middle-aged guy had gotten word that the divorce papers had come through'... about 85 percent of suicide attempts with a firearm end in death. (Drug overdose, the most widely used method in suicide attempts, is fatal in less than 3 percent of cases."
Sorry if this is getting too political for the off topic thread. I get more worked up about this sort of thing than I should.

We're generally fine with politics in this thread, it is off topic after all It's when you start to actually discuss the people in the us (or other) politics threads that it becomes a little bit more... unnecessary lol
As an example I always enjoyed hearing updates from Poulsen about the political climate in Poland around the time of their election. Nothing wrong with that It may be a little bit heavy for this thread but don't feel like you'll be punished for wanting to talk about something if you're civil about it.
The worst I've ever done is PM people if I think they're going a little overboard

b-but guns are super fun to shoot

Playing with guns is super fun I'd trade it for less dead people tho

There's probably a way we can still have guns useable and have less dead people tbh

and then you go overboard with restrictions like in the UK and Australia, so people in america can point to those countries and say, this is where it eventually leads to
