You should just play dead cells. It is an action game that forces you to go fast if you want to unlock wild shit. Or you can take it slow and try to build up stats/weapons. But the wildest shit is by going way to fast to be safe and maybe ruining your run.

D3 the game built for casuals because is sort of points out that we never really used all the skills is D2 anyways. But also the game is fun because loot and action figure dress up is fun.

I think the best part of D3, and modern WoW (I haven't played the most recent expansion but I doubt it's changed) is the low commitment to a build.

You can just reset your commitment to your build in D3 with just a button, so I don't have to worry about taking the "optimal" stats. I believe it's the same in WoW, with a small cost to respec compared to making a new character.

That's only true to a certain degree in WoW

If you want to optimize your character at all in WoW it's a huge time investment and just switching to another spec could put you far back, you often have to spend loot rolls on gear for a certain spec and you often have to spend time looking for very specific item pieces to make your build work, and any time you spend doing that is time spent not getting gear for other specs

and with raids being on a weekly lockout (you can only loot a raid at a certain difficulty once per week) i'd say that's a pretty big commitment and not just something you can switch easily

But i mean sure if you have no interest in good gear or optimization then it's fairly simple

I definitely meant that assuming you consider gear to be no object - in D3, you would similarly have to farm new equipment until your new build was at its peak, but you wouldn't have to roll a whole new character just to test a different build.

Although with how short 1-max is in D3, that's probably not a huge deal anyway.

Yeah but as opposed to D3 you get gear for your class as a whole when you farm gear
In WoW you roll for a single spec at a time, if i'm a warrior the gear i get from playing tank or playing Fury DPS are very different and the gear i'd need for the one i wasn't currently playing probably wouldn't drop for me to begin with, while if you're playing a monk in D3 you get monk gear, not monk gear specifically suited to your current build, but just monk gear

With WoW time-gating gear i consider this difference to be pretty important, i should know, considering i've spent weeks trying to get a specific item to make my build work in WoW (still don't have it)

The gear is the thing you want in WoW. No one liked farming up gold just to pay to re-spec talent points. And once you have a set of gear, you can acquire a new set for a different role in that same class. It is like Monster Hunter. It is easy to build the end form of any weapon. Acquiring a good set of armor and decorations to use that weapon effectively takes longer. But once you have it, you are good to go.

Yeah that does sound pretty different, in hindsight. I really didn't know that you only got on-spec gear for raids, but looking back at it, it feels kinda obvious: all the new gear I got was exclusively useful to my spec.

You can luckily change your loot specialization to be a different spec than the one you're playing, but then you're giving up gear for that spec and with titanforging being a thing that means you're potentially missing out on huge upgrades for the spec you're currently playing

god i wish they'd remove titanforging already, it's such a shitty system (completely random chance to get bonus stats on weapons, sometimes a few, sometimes a fuckton)
with titanforging it's completely up to luck if you get an upgrade or not and someone doing content 10 times easier than what you're doing might get an item almost twice as good (hyperbole) as what you got because they got lucky, so even if you're running the hardest content your rewards can thanks to RNG be worse than content from the easiest difficulty, not a very rewarding feeling

That's not something that affects only high end mythic raiding, this affects far more normal heroic raiding a lot too

Honestly the only ones unaffected by the increased amounts of loot RNG in wow since legion began are people who stick to LFR, which is basically participation-trophy-tier wow
Almost all boss mechanics don't exist, their damage is miniscule, their health is low, and if you somehow do fail you just get an indefinitely stacking buff that increases your health and damage until you succeed

No need to commit to a build is at odds with the whole role-playing thing.
I'm all about dat LARP.

I suppose you guys play with people so it's convenient though.

Are there any ARPG/MMOs where you log in, team up, commit to build, introduce random elements and events, complete scenarios/fail scenarios, win the game/lose the game? All in 5-10 hours.
Or did I just come up with the idea for GOTY 2020?

The low level raids and dungeons are not that bad, even for my scrub friends who can’t wrap their mind around agro. But it does require me and my buddy and his wife to play tank, healer and guy directing the DSP goon squad all the time. Myself and the healer do a lot of the heavy lifting.

More like I have no working games installed that I'm allowed to play.
I did try d3 when they did like the beta thing and hated it but maybe it's a different game now.
