In other news, Heroes of The Storm continues to be a video game that I am more willing to engage with than dota because matches are shorter. And my friends will play it because they don't have to look up builds. The two headed ogre continues to be so bad that he is good.

My friends play league. They don't want to play Dota because its like league, but harder to get into and with a billion weird rules. Like BKB. We play heroes of the storm when we get tired of WoW, because it is low stakes. Plus you can skip the pick and ban phase with quick match.

Turns out when you make the assumption that no offensive purge will ever target an invulnerable & untargetable unit then make a purge that does exactly that some of your early assumptions don't work out so well.

I have no idea how that got through though considering it's one of the most obvious implications of the change.

Games with simple rules do not preclude depth and nuance in gameplay. Resistance/mafia/Secret Hitler are relatively simple games that have a depth due to the human opponents. Nor do esoteric rules sets does not imbue a game with increased worth due to the difficulty of obtaining a functional level of skill. Players should avoid infusing the perceived worth of any game with personal insecurities or misplaced tribalism.

It's just ironic because the dialogue was "Yeah its okay to play HotS or whatever, that's fine" followed by "JUST BECAUSE A GAME IS SIMPLE DOESNT MEAN ITS NOT NUANCED AND WORTHWHILE" followed by something about insecurities.

It is okay. HotS is a simpler game than dota. It is designed to be a simpler game than dota. It is designed to be more pick-up-and-play than dota. It has merits. You should not feel bad for having played HotS. You do not need to defend HotS. It is not chess. That is okay.
