Watch Merlini stream his Sunday Cup Series or whatever it's called. If the captain pings on someone, he instantly goes on them. Plenty of room to do these things without a word. the fact that you can alt click to communicate so much in Dota is awesome but you're kidding yourself if you think that teams are gonna be alt-clicking their skills instead of talking to share information about cooldowns during a teamfight.

Edit: Yes, hearing stuff said by your teammate is more effective that reading it. Its just straight up faster, especially on a pro team where they are very used to it.

![]() personally with all of the QoL adjustments to alt-clicking, i still prefer communication especially when it comes to positioning and whether or not my assistance is needed. They're going to be doing both, honestly. Talking to communicate the high-register stuff that absolutely needs to be known, and alt-clicking to give the background to help people understand what's going on. That's what I do when I'm 5-stacking: combine methods to best convey information. Alt-clicking is definitely best in pubs, though.

Most League players I know prefer League's gameplay to Dota (obviously) but would love to have the Dota client and UI (as long as it was small) and stuff. Like you can't even select allies to check their cooldowns or select enemies to read up on what their skills do. There are always things Dota's UI could improve on but it could be much much worse On February 20 2015 00:18 Acritter wrote: They're going to be doing both, honestly. I think you're dramatically overestimating how much pro teams alt-click things outside of pings. I mean just watch pros stack in pubs, they're almost always on teamspeak or something and that's their primary method of communication. Still lots of pinging and minimap drawing obviously. alt clicking is still ownage in pubs though

I really like Aui's story about how Murs' enter key broke and he went on like a 15 game winning streak because he couldn't flame his team anymore lol

Oh well, i just casually tune in to watch him, that might be a cause that he's dropped 1k.

They actually just barely communicate at all, and when they do, it's for simple things like "farming bot" and "let's push." Most of the talk, if there's any of it at all, is just random banter.

I mean I'm watching aui right now and he's in a 5 stack and they've been talking all game. Same goes for when I was watching notail stack with bone7. apparently we are watching very different streams lol also if you watch the turtle beach teamchat videos all the teams are talking constantly. Like I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but I don't know how you think that teams are gonna be primarily communicating through alt clicks instead of speaking during official matches lol.

Depending on who is in the team there are the usual calls like in Sing-stack. But sometimes when they go tryhard mode and have all 5 players in skype, they call every little detail, ping out rotations from support, follow ward placement and have timers for every important skill in the game. JotM was the one who impressed me the most. Sees a support rotating past a ward, goes and dewards two wards in a row just from knowing where the enemy came from.
