I go by a simple principle when rating games; buy or don't buy. When review sites and the readers go into an outrage over 0.1 point off or reading too much into them you know something is wrong.

Review scores are really stupid and subjective i mean look at dota most people are idiots yet are still casters just like game reviewers most people are idiots but still review which is fine if ur an idiot but for superior people like me who have #intelligence i see games on a higher plain and can't take the review seriously.

The only thing i look up is if a game is a buggy unplayable mess.

I always read reviews of games from reviewers I care about. If one of the Giant Bomb folks has something to say about a game, I will read it. Especially if its a game I have not played and wasn't on my radar. There are a couple reviewers on Polygon, Kotaku and IGN I follow as well. I don't follow sites specifically.

Its like movie reviews, I read them to make sure the thing isn't a hotmess.

If ur just active enough online and whatnot you should be able to tell what kind of game a game is before u play it you pretty much dont even need to read reviews, worth checking up though to see how buggy something is and sometimes people are idiots and dont even realize something is a bug like a pudge hook into a fountain
