I'm not defending his actual argument. I said it was a hypothesis, I didn't say it was a good or testable one. It's probably still a model though.
I suppose his mechanism is that quick adaptation is delivering better results than a generally higher baseline skill level. Again, not saying I agree with any part of that, or any of the underlying assumptions. The issue is with the assumptions, though, not on the technicality of whether or not it's a model.

ya but a hypothesis alone isn't a model. a model is used to explain something, e.g. western teams having more skill. he does nothing to illustrate that other than say "they win games" where you have a million different variables.
