I remember those games, but never got into them. They were very pretty at the time and I liked how they simulated a city. But if I am going for sprite based games, I'm going Rise of Nations. But my RTS time is being taken up by Company of Heroes 2.

Edit: How do you get those 1998 game running on a modern machine? Or is it GoG working the magic?

I used to play a lot of RoN/Empire Earth/Age of Empires but they don't give me the same satisfaction when it comes to actually building a city.

It's hard for me to play a classic RTS other than BW/SC2 and I can't really play them just for fun. Whereas while Caesar III has some minor combat mechanics it's much more focused on just building and managing a city.

Plus the cities look really cool when you build them all the way up.

Age of Empires 2 and Caesar ....damn...the memories. Those games were tight as hell. Tempted to buy AoE 2 HD on Steam.

In the past I've gone through a bunch of nonsense with torrents and sketchy programs but I'm no longer a student so in this case I downloaded from Amazon for $6 and it just works. GoG had the same price I believe.

Also worth mentioning that AoE 2 still has a relatively active community in case you guys didn't know. There are about 1.5k people playing right now on Voobly. It's no BW but it's definitely still fun to play sometimes.

Not sure what AoE2 HD entails but everyone on Voobly plays AoE 2 Conquerors. No idea whether AoE2 HD is compatible.

I haven't been active in AoE in years wish I could be more helpful lol

AOE2 HD is basically the equivalent in that community to jokes like starbow
its just still modded orignal AOE2 for anybody who takes the game even slightly seriously

That mod was fun, but god the people who made it and their fans drank to much Koolaid.

IN Brotherhood Homunculii were created from some sort of alchemy in which the original was a bottled mass of something, while in FMA they were created when people tried human transmutation. I prefer the FMA anime explanation over Brotherhood/manga just because of that.

The homunculii were more interesting in the original anime since they were failed attempts to bring back loved ones. There were literally walking embodiments of the sin of pride and an attempt to play god. Although I enjoyed the fights in Brother Hood, I liked the overall tone of the original series, focusing on attempts to play god. The concept that the homunculi were trying to trick someone into make the philosopher's stone was a much creepier plot and goal for the villains.

Plus the villain was much more interesting than a giant power house that required an army to kill. The whole WW2 thing sucked balls, but I am willing to let it pass and pretend I don’t know what is on the other side of the door.

Also, when are series going to learn that telling us what is on the other side of the “door” is bad? Not knowing is better. The unknowns is scarier than the known.

They also needed to eat the red stone to obtain a form and be immortal. If they didn't they just died. Some many people could have tried, but only the "villain" and Eds father knew that you could feed them red stone to make them more powerful.
