Just made a cyclops but havnt gone deeper than like crash site/mushroom forest. I still spend most of my time at my base in the spawn area. I'm planning to make a second base near one of those huge trenches that lead into the deep mid-game areas. I think I made a mistake by kind of rushing out my cyclops. I didn't realize that it runs on batteries that I need to keep charged lol.

Looking for cyclops parts in the crash zone might be the most tense iv ever been while playing a video game. I'm still scared to go into the real deep dark areas below around 300 meters lol

If anyone hasnt played subnautica I highly highly recommend it. I had been avoiding it because it looked like just another survival title, but it's amazing.

It's kind of a survival-horror crafting game I guess? You start on a tiny raft in a massive ocean, working your way up from just goggles and a o2 tank to building massive underwater bases and submersibles that let you dive into increasingly deep, dark, and dangerous areas. The map has a huge number of biomes and is beautifully handcrafted. Lots and lots of varieties of creatures and collectible flora.

I think survival-horror crafting is close, but a *big* part of the game is also exploration. There's ~basically no combat (you can certainly beat it without doing any combat) and you're figuring out what the deal is with the world that you've been dropped on over the course of the game.

I picked it up because I asked some friends whether they knew any games like Outer Wilds. Subnautica is not as good as Outer Wilds because Outer Wilds is literally the best game I have ever played, but it's quite good and does get at some of the same stuff.

Some of the 'easter eggs' in the outer wilds fucked with me more than I would have liked, but I can overall agree that Outer Wilds is fantastic. It's a bit cruel to have a game that's largely environmental puzzle/storytelling stuff and then have things that are not at all related to the game... like in one labyrinthine area there's a way to look into a different space that's apparently a reference to another game one of the devs made, and another thing is speaking a phrase to you that isn't actually relevant to the game and again is just a backer reference or something.

THAT SAID thats literally my only complaint about the game. It's amazing.

u and ian should play the forest its 100% my favourite non competitive game i have ever played
if u immerse urself in it its really something else

i remember making some posts on how the smash bros community (which is doing fine post scandals) was pretty much just grassroots run and thats why there was no money in it.

the news today is that nintendo caused this situation by gutting plans for smash bros esports leagues from the likes of ESL, twitch, redbull and more
