IRC chatter should remain in IRC - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=tl.dota2

Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

he lost 0 matches from 2.9-3.5, 3 matches from 3.5-4, and has I think 5 lost matches from 4-4.3K atm. Which makes sense, as he slowly approaches his real rank he loses a few games more but still wins an overwhelming percentage. He isn't at 95% winrate anymore, I'll grant you that.

Seems like it is, and the wins start at page 3. Recently he has lost quite a few games.

Well, the 48-3 I said I got from his playdota thread. He probably played some since he updated it.

He had 3 losses until 11 days ago, then took a short break, came back 2 days ago and lost 4 matches in 12, so it's likely he hasn't updated the thread.

So I just got home, so much dota going on What are the games to watch this evening ?

D2CL playoffs started today. Alliance vs VP is on right now for that.

If you like Liquid they play in SL America later on. Also I'm not sure who's playing Dreamleague right now but that's always good to watch.

this experiment proofs little because it is not about real scenarios. Just imagine a support player at 3k mmr, he trys to smoke gank mid, pings mid but his mid just does something stupid and the gank fails he falls behind. If the same game his mid was better and realized that there was a smoke gank incoming they would kill the other mid and get miles ahead.
I wonder if a 3k support player with good understanding but bad mechanics could stay at 4k if given the chance.

These test are always a top rated player smashing some super low scrubs untill he gets reasonable teammates and grinds back up again from there.

The games arnt real? The experiment is to prove there is no ELO hell. If his teammates don't hold him back, then ELO hell can't be real. That's the experiment.

I think the argument is that ELO hell is real, but only for supports.

It really isn't.

In fact, I'd say that MOST people who cry a lot about ELO hell or whatever other ridiculous garbage are the same people who instalock some sort of carry/core every game.

it is not the experiment to see if someone that is way better can smash some scrubs with a strong solo mid hero. Everyone knows that already and at some point you get reasonable teammates anyway.

Elo hell for a lot of people is that they are 2k players but they think they are maybe 2,5k players but his teammates hold him back. I think that most of them are aware that they are not 5k players and can't smash everyone left and right, they think they are slightly lower rated than they should be and can't progress because of bad teammates. Just to make it clear I think after enough games most people will stop at a rating that is very close to their skill but they could also do just fine 500 mmr higher or lower.

I'm really interested how this experiment turns out:

http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/20f8af/mmr_experiment_5k_account_giveaway/

btw. Elo is not an abbreviation it is a name.
