Usually what I do when enemy picks pudge I'll just pick a very unconventional hero mid that needs some farm that is hard to kill for him. Heroes like Morphling (literally unkillable for pudge if you are not dumb), Lycan, etc.

Morph can't really harass him out of lane or out-last hit him, and when morph comes in for lasthits pudge can just run at him (due to morph's awful attack range). If morph gets into the rot he has to waveform out and thats when you just hook on the line of his waveform (can't miss by the time you are level 3). Ez kills Ez mid Ez life. This is only true if Morph does not get Boots advantage. If Morph gets Boots->Bottle rather than Bottle->Boots, he can easily outrun Pudge while harassing him. It's somewhat harder for Pudge to reciprocate by buying Boots because initial regen lasting you until Boots+Bottle in melee vs. ranged is pretty iffy. Also, does Pudge even win a man-fight with creep disadvantage against Strength Morph? My guess would be no, but im not actually sure.

At lvl 1 if you're not afraid of ganks you can mass agi and abuse your range to hit him until he dies or deny/last hit everything

Also as one of the lowest ranged heroes in the game, morph shouldn't really be able to properly harass pudge if he hangs out on his side of the creep wave. PS morph can only morph about 8-10 points to strength even with branches or w/e before he doesn't have the mana to waveform. assuming full mana to start. More as he levels up obviously. Either way its fairly skill dependant but i'm pretty sure pudge has the tools to just kill morph.

Especially if pudge hits level 2 first. You're totally disregarding creep advantage here though. You have to be more than a little ahead on damage to outtrade creep advantage as melee vs. ranged.

Also in that mid matchup a stout shield would do a lot for pudge I think so if he had that... I'm not really all that good at 1v1s but since the base damage nerfs and the pooling nerfs I think that morph would have one hell of a hard time in that lane.

On January 07 2014 05:30 Sn0_Man wrote: How's a 350 range hero expecting to reliably get the creep advantage. Morph can't really kite pudge if he gets inside rot or anything and in most situations where pudge would draw creep aggro, so would morph. As in, any situation where morph gets caught in rot, he's almost certainly in creep aggro range. Morph always has the ranged creep advantage because Pudge's ranged creep is most certainly too far if he's walking TOO Morph to hit him. Even if they both aggro, Morph's melee creeps directly turn to hit Pudge, whereas Pudge's melee creeps have to path all the way around to Morphling which can take a second or two. More if Morphling lets Pudge attack first, causing Pudge's melee creeps to aggro first to Morph's melee creeps before they can later switch aggro to Morphling.

So you're saying that Pudge Rots and runs at Morph until Morph reaches 500 range and can autoattack Pudge without drawing aggro while Pudge does if he hits back? Then Pudge has to run away because he can't fight at that range? How is that good for Pudge?

Depends on the level of hook, and obviously with dismember that doesn't happen, but morph would probably live if he controlled his morph correctly.

Obviously I have to get better, but I don't know if there will be a level where this sort of thing doesn't happen (at least occasionally), so I would like some advice.

If you get flamed and your teammates start throwing, treat it as practice for this skill. You'd be surprised how one or two won team-fights can get teamwork rolling.
