On the Dota 2 Diretide page from last year it does imply that it's an annual thing. The other two similar games on Steam both have Halloween special events, with TF2's now 5th annual event. It would've made complete sense for the community to expect that the biggest game on steam (by far) would have a Halloween event. It got worse because of Valve being so quiet on all this. Communication is an essential part of service, especially with the gaming community. If any of the dota 2 developers would've written a short tweet explaining the cancellation while taking a dump, none of this backlash would've happened. If they just wrote "Sorry guys no Diretide this year because *insert excuse*," Everyone would've just read that and moved on. | ||
