Agreed.
Compared to the incredibly high bar that Valve has set with everything else they've done with DotA2, it's pretty clear that the holiday events haven't met the mark.

- Today somebody posted a picture of Cyborgmatt confirming no Diretide in Twitch chat. In a weird way he said something about "Three Musketeers" in chat. I can't find the link anymore, though.
- Cyborgmatt tweets this:
- In a recent Content Analysis he posts this picture as anticipation for new heroes: http://imgur.com/REU9P6N
- The only thing revealed in the .vpks of todays small patch was this pic: http://www.cyborgmatt.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/spirit_secret.jpg
- http://www.twitch.tv/2gd/b/475576573 (9:30)
CONCLUSION:
- Today's patch obviously was a distraction. - Big patch incoming tomorrow or early next week - Including Diretide, 3 new heroes and a new Tower Defense mode.

update 6.79..lack of content.. one would assume that 679 is mainly the work of icefrog and his own team (pros and trusted testers) to create. of course implementation is on valve's side but 679 came with no new content nor any fixes of old content nor any expansion of current content. i do appreciate the hell of of valve working the weekend through to provide us with 679 though. A lot of this anger could be assuaged if Valve had a proper communications policy which they don't, hell the Chinese dota2 t.qq account posted more info official info as far as I can see. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/klTKvjm.jpg) On November 02 2013 06:54 TheYango wrote: I don't know how people can be disappointed over something Valve never made any commitments on. its small but its something This angered is caused by the fact that a large part of the playerbase is 14. i dont care about shiny new things, im terrible at all the stuff in the game already. i played the same type cs servers you did, or something similar
i just want valve to talk to us

Lol people are just upset about not getting the usual "EZ RARES EZ LYFE EZ GAME" from these events.

They would have avoided a ton of disgruntled fans by just saying it would not be happening this year and should look to the horizon for more awesome stuff. I just do not like being left in the dark when it is done on purpose.
And if they did communicate it people would still whine.
People just cling onto any reasonable excuse to be mad about their free game not getting an update.
Way to invalidate anyone that seems to be upset. How about instead of just glossing over the entire issue, you take the time to realize there is more to it then simply, no update I rage! This sort of all encompassing logic is getting to the level of Blizzard forums which is very pitiful.

3 heroes in one update? LOL. Diretide happening is probably more likely than that.

Has there ever been a game that's had their metacritic score tanked for something more petty and stupid than this? I mean games like Diablo 3 and Sim City have terrible metacritic user scores but for good reason. But the reason Dota 2 is getting spammed now is completely stupid in comparison.

people will always have reason to be mad
this does not excuse valve's lack of communication
|
Valve should have released first blood and 6.79 patch in weekly mini-updates instead. Maybe the community would be appreciative of that.
|
All that happens when companies like Valve start to communicate is they get called liars.
This is an effect that has resounded through the games industry, they see people want them to communicate, so they do
But when they do, things they say are often used against them, people call them liars, people shit on them
And these aren't people who were hired to deal with this, they're just developers
Its no wonder why most game devs don't really communicate with the community. The community doesn't know shit, thinks they do, and are ASSHOLES about it

Games like Diablo 3 and Sim City had terrible metacritic scores because of petty and stupid reasons as well. Sure, they had issues, but the user scores did not reflect the quality of the game, they were intentionally tanked far beyond what the games deserved. Its not that diferent from what happened to Dota and why user scores are often pointless. No matter what server issues D3 had on its first week, its not a game worth only a score of 3.8. People give games 0 for the most absurd reasons on that site.

Man, I'd be laughing my ass off at all this if I was a Valve developer.
|
can we at least be honest about why we are sad no diretide? nobody actually likes the game mode enough to cry this much, we just want 3-4 pages of new items for playing silly game mode.
at least be honest ok guys.

I'm sure they realize that everyone will forget in 3 days.
Although Metacritic is fucking stupid. And It'd be nice if they took it off Steam and stop giving it credence.
